A few hours ago, I had two young guys come to my door. At first, they said that they are doing some sort of project to better their communication and public speaking skills. After talking to them for a few minutes, they told me about their "point game". At this point, i got sucked in to asking how they earn their points. They proceeded to tell me that they were selling magazines and for each subscription they sell, they get points, which could possibly earn them a free trip to italy.

I declined, they left sort of pissed, and I came inside and looked all of it up online. From what people say, its a big scam where no one ever gets their magazines. How and who should I contact to report this? I dont want these kids wandering through my neighborhood..

  1. I have had people doing it legally, since I did know them.  In general, you could call your town's City Hall.  I know they have to register in our town before any solicitation can be done.  Also, we have a city issued decal for our front door for  "no solicitation".

  2. Call the police.  Be prepared to give them descriptions of the guys, and their direction of travel.   We have had them in our neighborhood, and they get very angry and belligerent when you tell them no.  People who have let them into their houses have had items stolen. They also take advantage of the elderly through intimidation.
