Question:

Who should I take w/ my 1st pick?

I am doing a Yahoo keeper fantasy football league this year for the 1st time, and I have the 1st pick. Would you take the obvious choice LT? or go younger and choose Adrian Peterson since he will be on my squad again next year? Or go w/ a QB like Brady or Manning?

Also do you know how many years the keeper picks stay on your team?

Give me your thoughts please!

  1. LT he is still young and hands down the best RB still.

  2. In a keeper league, I think the right pick is Peterson.  He's young, extremely talented, and has the best offensive line in the league.  Tomlinson is a great RB, but he'll be 30 next year when you decide your keepers.  I'd rather go with Peterson, who is like Tomlinson in his prime.

Do not take a QB with your #1 pick.  If Brady was guaranteed to put up 50TDs again that's one thing but he's more likely to come back to earth this year.  Take a QB in the 10th or later and fill out your roster with stud RBs and WRs early.

  3. LT he is still young. We don't know if Adrian Peterson may just have been a one hit wonder. ADVICE: NEVER TAKE A QB IN THE FIRST ROUND UNLESS IT IS TOM BRADY!!! NEVER!!!

  4. 1. Peterson is an exciting player.  However, he is injury prone, and is still a timeshare back with Chester Taylor.  LT is a durable, proven, safe pick.  He's been a top fantasy force for years, with no real downside.

    2. Understand your league scoring settings.  It might be tempting to take Brady, but by the time the draft snakes back to you, your available RBs will be very mediocre.  There are plenty of top QBs to be found later in the draft, as it is a deep position.  Brees/Palmer/Romo could slide to you.  Even if you wait, a high upside young player like Jay Cutler will go much later, and he could be a great keeper.

    3. Check your league settings or with the commissioner for your keeper rules.  Some have 'dynasty' rules where you may return players year after year.  Some are "one and done."

  6. a lot of this depends on your customized scoring/keeper settings. if it's fairly standard then you should probably go with LT. if you have 6 pts/pass td (standard is usually 4) you might want to go with a qb. also, check your keeper rules. if you can keep a player for several years, it would be an interesting play to take AP over LT...not sure if thats advisable though as AP does have an injury history. essentially the pick comes down to a gut feeling after you've researched your best possibilities.

    good luck

  7. Lt is on the back nine...

    I'd go Brady...
