Who should I take with the 1st pick: Tomlinson or Peterson?

I have the 1st overall pick in my fantasy football league this year. I'm torn between LT and Peterson. Who should I select? It's a PPR league if that helps swing it one way or another.

  1. I'm the odd duck, I'll say Peterson. The thing is, most people say no to AP because he got injured in the first season. It was an injury which lasted two weeks, and he played in/started both of those games. Obviously, the injury had minimal impact on his performance. LT is indeed consistent, but so is Westbrook. I guarantee you Steven Jackson will be taken before Brian Westbrook in some leagues, but Westbrook is obviously more consistent in his numbers. Why take Jackson? Because it's worth the risk. Taking the safe bet by using a consistent player can pay off, but it also can make you feel like a r****d when you pass up another option that absolutely explodes onto the scene! AP is worth taking a chance on, he's my pick.

  2. Normally, I would take LT. PPR, LT runs away with it...pun intended.

I choose Tomlinsonbecause he has the trackrecord. Upside is not the only thing. Especially with the number 1 overall pick. You want security, not risk and LT has more security and less risk than AP/AD.

Also, LT is very involved in the catching game whereas Peterson really isn't. Plus the Vikings don't really have a passing game so that's a no go.

    Go with LT. good luck!

  3. gotta go with lt , u know what you are going to get from him ,,peterson has ton of potential but not proven yet..

  4. Either way you go, it will be fine.

A PPR league will help LT out alot more since he is involved in the SD passing game.  From what I've seen from AP, he isn't as great of a receiver as LT is.

I think if you want to take a chance with a guy that has more potential and a higher ceiling, you take AP.  If you want a guy that will give you consistant numbers every week against every defense, go with LT.  That's it in a nutshell.

  5. Id take the safe pick go with LT but if you want to be bold go with Adrian.  If he doesnt get injured again h**l probably have a better season LT is Mr.Consistency and last year was an off year for him.

Dont you think you should also consider Steven Jackson(Rams) also?

  6. You've got to take LT.  AP has been in the league for one season, and got hurt at that.  What are the chances that he repeats like projected?  Look at the past.  Anyone remember Reggie Bush?

  7. Toughie... I'd go with LT, although I'd personally pick AP.

  8. go with you gut right before the time runs out on your pick.

oh wait Dont forget about Steven jackson and Westbrook they are just as good in PPR leagues

  9. LT all the way.

AP has some risks that hurt his draft stock last year which was durability and injuries. Plus LT is going to get you a lot of points because not only is he going to be running the ball, but catching the ball as well. The Chargers are going to use him in different pass plays.

Another thing, have you noticed a trend the last few years? Its always been LT and a different RB as the Top 2 fantasy players. 2006- LT and Alexander, 2007-LT and Jackson. Each of those years, LT had a great season while the other guy ends up to play below expectations. Alexander and Jackson both had injuries and didn't play on par with what many would expect from them. Who knows. This trend can hurt AP.

Another thing, sophmore bust. AP can have one.

So take LT. He isn't a risk and everyone knows he'll have another great year. AP is a great RB, but he's got risks that can hurt him.

  10. LT because of his solid play in so many years but thats a tough decision

  11. AD always gets hurt, college and NFL. He won't produce all 16 weeks! LT gets the same numbers as AD but also catches the ball a lot and throws it sometimes. So go with LT.

As to Joel, your answer makes no sense," I would personally take LT...but I'd get AD."

  12. obviously LT He had a off season last year and still post top numbers your taking exp and many points with lt

AP is getting hurt in the first season im a cardinals fan ill take LT over the edge any day LT is the perfect pick for fantasy football.

  13. Neither, in my league last year, the top 3 players were all quarterbacks (Brady, Manning, Romo) so I would take Brady.

  14. I'd take LT, just because you know what you're getting, but that's a tough call.

  15. I would go with Tomlinson. Peterson will be very good this year but the Vikings have no pass game so expect to see 8 in the box to stop Peterson.

  16. if you don't take l.t. you should be banned from all fantasy sports.

  17. Tomlinson is who i'd take. Peterson is a beast, but he hasn't had a full season yet and could be in for a sophmore slump. LT is consistantly a stud year in and year out. Peterson will have some big games, but i think he is a gamble. Both will rack up points and be top 5 backs. So i say go with LT becasue of the experience and consistancy, where as peterson is a gamble, he could be the best back in the NFL or get hurt and be the biggest bust in Fantasy. So go with LT, he's proven.
