Question:

Who should be AL MVP?

If you watch the Boston Red Sox, I think it should be Dustin Pedroia first, and Kevin Youkilis second...now this is coming from a most likely biased Boston fan, but my questions are: Who should be the AL MVP and why? and Where in the voting do you think Pedroia and Youkilis should be?

  1. I think Youkilis should be AL MVP.  He picked up the slack when Ortiz was out and continues to do so now that Ortiz sucks and Manny is gone.

The other choice for MVP would be Carlos Quentin.  Where did this guy come from?  He's unreal.

  2. Pedroia. he has alot of hits. he can hit in the clutch. good speed. good power. spectacular defense. but mostly he provides energy for the entire team

  3. Pshhh all you dumb Sox fans think your players are the best.

    K-Rod should win MVP.

  4. I don't agree with Pedroia simply because I think the Sox would be worse off missing Youkliss than they would if they didn't have Pedroia.

However, when you have two strong candidates, they sometimes split the vote.  I can see Quentin winning for that reason.

  5. The A.L. M.V.P. should be K-Rod. He is about to shatter the all-time saves record, plus he is on a team that will most likely make it to the World Series (and possibly win it).

  6. 1. Carlos Quentin.  1st in HR 4th in RBI...clearly the most consistent hitter in the AL.

    2. A-Rod...NOT!! Josh Hamilton.  3rd in HR, 1st in RBI...His stats have declined a little bit, but he still has great numbers and has to be considered.

    3. Justin Morneau.  Having and under the radar year, but putting up solid numbers.

    4. Cliff Lee.  20-2.  ERA 2.32.  Having a phenomenal year, Cy Young no doubt.

    5. Pedroia.  Good year, but not MVP quality.

    6. K-Rod.  If closers got the respect they should in MVP voting, he would be number 1.  But he's a closer, and he doesnt, so he is sixth.

    7. Ian Kinsler.  Look for him to be a top 2B in coming years.

    8. Youkillis.  Just not good enough to be the best...

Hope that's what you were looking for.

  7. Pedroia, of course. Drew took up the slack when Papi was out. We have played without Youk a few times now, we have not played with out Pedroia. He does it all. Sets the table, steals, cleans up and turns wicked doubles at 2nd base. It's a laser light show!  {btw, if he was just a little taller he could clear a few more over the walls to beef up that HR stat. ;-)  }

Don't get me wrong, Youk deserves second place. But at this stage, I gotta give Pedie the vote.

  8. if the chi white sox make the playoffs carlos quinten... he was not supposed to be on the roster in spring.. check his stats

  9. I would think it would be Carlos Quentin.  Batting .290 with 36 homers and 100 RBIs rite now.  Leads the AL in homers nad 4th in RBI.  And hes playing for the first place Chicago White Sox.

Too be completely honest, I do acknowledge the wonderful seaosn that both Youkilis and Pedrioa has had, but theres no chance either of them will win this award.

Youkilis is tied for 6th in RBIs and doesnt even crack top ten in home runs.  He has a tidy batting average, but theres several better players that is more deserving.

Pedroia, yes he is on a tear, but I really think that have been the major thing that have pulled the wool over ppl's eyes.  Pedroia mite I say has 15 homers, 16 stolen bases and 68 RBI.  Thats not enough of any category to win this award.   Ian Kinsler, whose name isnt even mentioned has 18 homers, 26 stolen bases and 71 RBIs.

  10. It is a tough choice between Pedroia and Youkilis for the MVP. People are saying that Morneau, Quintin, and Hamilton are in the running but I dont understand how they could win it over. Hamilton's play has dramatically dropped off after the All-Star break, but I still see him ahead of Quinten and Morneau with all the RBI's, 30 HR's, and an average above .300. Quentin has a .288 average and I dont think homeruns alone will get you the MVP. Morneau is a solid player and I think he is a good contender once again for the MVP. Although Pedroia and Youk don't have as many RBI's or homeruns, they have high averages, high slugging percentages, high number of runs scored, and the DEFENSE! They are both will both be Gold Glove winners at the end of the season and I think this will set then apart from the rest. In the end I think it will be Pedroia who wins the MVP. Go Sox!

  11. Dustin Pedroia... he is no longer some rookie ........

  12. I think Quentin is Pedroia's only competition in this one. Sure Pedroia doesn't have that many HR's or RBIs, but he's a small guy who has been batting 2nd after a slumping Ellsbury, and obviously the bottom of the order doesn't get on base a lot, so it's unfair to judge him simply based on RBI's. I'd rather look at how he leads the MLB in runs scored, hits, multi-hit games, 3-hit games, 4-hit games. He always comes up big in the clutch and makes diving plays in the field and even amazing base-running plays. It would kill the team more if they lost Dusty than if they lost Youk.

  13. Grady Sizemore should be AL MVP. He became a 30-30 man this year, and on Saturday, he became the first Cleveland Indian, in the history of the team, to have 30 steals, 30 homeruns, and 30 doubles in the same season.

As for Pedroia, and Youkilis, I have no idea. Sry
