If your car breaks down, do you think it should be fixed for free or some agency should pay for it?

If you throw a rock through the window of your house, should our government be responsible to fix it?

When you go to the hospital for treatment do you believe the government should pay for all expense incurred?

  1. Personal responsibility requires that I pay for my car, my window, and my health insurance.  It is a misconception that health care is for free---you will pay for it by the government garnishing your wages.  I think it is only fair to do that because too many people say that they cannot afford health care for their families, clog our hospital emergency rooms, and have the taxpayers foot the bill.  In the long run it will be much more cost-effective to have universal health care because the county hospitals which currently have to treat you for free if you can't pay will be relieved of a huge burden.  Most people who claim that they cannot afford health insurance could do so if they were willing to re-prioritize and re-budget their money, so I am in favor of this health care for all rather then against it.  I paid 12 dollars for a "mucus recovery system", which was nothing else but a box of tissues, and I think those are the costs that have driven our health care higher and higher.  Hospitals and medical facilities overcharge those who have insurance to compensate for those who don't have it, and the government "forcing" those who don't have health care to be responsible will be a good idea in my book...

  2. no to the first 2..you should pay for that stuff...but for hospital things i think america should have a hospital plan for everybody and tell the insurance companys to drop dead and the hospitals from ripping off people with those rediculous prices for doctors and meds

  3. We have been moving towards socialism since women were given the right to vote.  I do not suggest they should not vote but they do like to be taken care of.  Socialized medicine is coming.  We will all get to experience the low level of care the VA has been providing for years.

  4. If a car or window gets broken...you don't die.

I'm Canadian...we have a national and provincial health care system in place.  It may not be the BEST (long wait times on certain care) and we've looked into 2 tier systems...but so far?  It may not be the perfect solution, but it's better than most countries'.

I guess it boils down to this:  if my car breaks down, I have to find a different mode of transportation to work until I can afford to repair or purchase a new vehicle.  If a rock goes through my window and I was stupid enough to have thrown it, insurance won't pay for it and I'll have to, at least, cover it up with something until I can reglaze.

If I have typhoid fever and have no health care...I can always go to work and share it until 200 people in one building come down with it and they can incur their own health care costs...or die.  Isn't that what normally happened with epidemics of typhoid fever, tuberculosis and influenza in the US for those without health care?  Just kept spreading it?

  5. If you know how to work the system, you don't have to pay anything. Ask any of the illegal aliens, I mean undocumented immigrants, who pays for their medical.

  6. Your car is your own responsibility, and it breaking down affects no-one but you.

You throwing a rock through your house is your own fault, and you should pay for it.

Getting ill is not your fault, and it can affect a large number of people (contageious diseases etc.). What about children and the poor, who cannot afford to pay $15 000 for their doctor to tell them they have a cold....

When the UK got a national helth service, it got rid of so many diseases, and saved loads of people's lives. Because the government is in charge, the doctors can't charge extortionate prices for little service, and the whole system is regulated, so everyone gets the same level of treatment.

Would you say that you go to school for education, so should the government or the parents pay for that.

you set your house on fire, but would you expect to have to pay the fire service yourself?

You get robbed, but you don't pay the police officer, do you?

  7. If you did it, then you should pay for it.  As far as the hospital goes, if you run up a bill from being sick or injury and you have trouble paying for it, then sometimes you can work out a payment plan with them.  As long as you just pay $5 a month, it shows you are attempting to pay your debt.  Hey, I'm poor but I do pay my own debts.  If I make it or break it, then I pay for it:"))

  8. No twice. As for the Free medical, if you were to serve in the military or some other Government agency for 20 years, then yes, at a reduced cost. I spent 21 years in the service and I pay a fraction of my medical costs. You have to give to, get. Nothing should be absolutely free.

  9. I pay for my auto repairs and I pay for repairs on my house.

    I have medical insurance.
