Who do you think should be the Vice Presidential selections of Barack Obama and John McCain? I'm open to hearing your thoughts about who should be VP for each candidate. :]

I think the best choice (or at least one of the best choices) would be Wesley Clark or Jim Webb. (For Obama).

For McCain I'm not sure but some of my guesses would include Bobby Jindal and Tim Pawlenty. What are your opinions?

  1. Mccain-Huckabee ticket

    Obama-Clinton ticket

  2. I think Wesley Clark and James Webb are two excellent choices for the Democrat V.P. slot.   Although it's kind of like the Michael Dukakis/Llloyd Bentson pairing in 1988, where a very incongruent conservative V.P. was linked up with an ultraliberal presidential candidate.

Then as now, I'd vote either Jim Webb or Wesley Clark for president over Barack Obama, and their inclusion as a side-order for Obama doesn't make up for Obama himself any less flawed or more acceptable.   Former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn would be another choice in that vein.

For McCain, he needs someone very knowledgeable on the economy, and the only one that stands out for me is Mitt Romney, who has definitely proven his business leadership in the public and private sector, an area McCain is criticized for being deficient in, while strong on military and foreign policy issues.

Much talk has been made about selecting Florida governor Charlie Crist, but I think McCain already has a lock on Florida, and should pick someone from a swing state the V.P. choice could secure for him.

Remarkably, both Obama and McCain need someone more conservative to balance out their ticket, both being left-of-center of their party's political base.

  3. Clark or Webb would be good choices for Obama because of their military experience.  I don't think he'll pick Clinton because she has too much baggage and Mrs. Obama hates her. There's a rumor he's considering Michael Bloomberg.

Many people want Bobby Jindal to finish his term as Louisiana governor, clean up the state and get more experience. Tim Pawlenty wouldn't bring much energy and excitement to the ticket. Personally, I'm still hoping McCain will choose Mitt Romney for his business, Olympics, Massachusetts governor experience  www.mittforveep.com

Other possible choices are Paul Ryan, 38-year old Wisconsin congressman; Mark Sanford; Michael Steele; Sarah Palin; Kay Bailey Hutchison; Charlie Crist; Chris Cox; Alan Keyes; JC Watts

  4. they should both pick hillary

  5. Romney would be the best choice. He understands money (he's a multi-millionaire), he knows how to govern (MA) and is great at fixing major obstacles (he saved a failing Winter Olympics).

His record is squeaky clean. His only real fault is that he used to support the right for a mom to choose her happiness over her child's. Fortunately he is now pro-life and not afraid to admit it (regardless of the flip-flop criticism).

  6. I wouldn't mind seeing Bill Richardson for Obama, but I think he will choose someone else. I do believe Richardson will get some kind of cabinet position though. They have put out the name of Jim Webb lately. He could be a good choice, too. I think Hillary is burning her bridges in the way she's handling things right now and doing more harm to herself than good. I'm really miffed with her actions right now. She's like a nasty little dog, latching on with her teeth and refusing to let go. I used to admire her so much, but this fiasco has soured me on her.

For McCain, I think he will try to pull in a right-wing, religious right conservative if he can find one that will not be too far removed from his own platform. He's going to want to win over those conservatives though.
