  1. read

  2. Matt Prior

What else can he possibly do to get selected. He averaged 40 in test cricket with England in his 1st stint. He has scored 841 runs this season in the County Championship at an average of 56. He has scored more runs than any other wicket-keeper this season, at a higher average than any other keeper.

Some pundits/fans have doubted his wicket-keeping ability, with Bob Willis recently calling him "iron gloves". Well maybe Prior isnt the best wicket-keeper in the world, and he never will be, but he worked hard over the winter with England legend Alec Stewart to improve his confidence with the gloves.

England dropped Prior because in there words "The selectors feel that he needs to further improve his wicket-keeping in order to realise his full potential in international cricket". Prior has spent a long-time in the winter trying to improve his wicket-keeping, ive seen a few Sussex games this year and Prior has been near fault-less in every one of them.

So Prior is consistently performing with the bat, he has worked hard to improve his keeping, i dont see any reason why Matt Prior shouldnt be given another chance in test cricket.

England have been searching since the retirement of Alec Stewart for the next Alec Stewart to come along and take his place in the team. If you compare Prior and Stewart they are not that much different. Both were batsmen who got converted into wicket-keepers, both are agressive batsmen. Matt Prior can have a lenghty and successful spell in the England side if patience is shown with Prior.

Matt Prior would be a quality no.7 in tests (one of the best in the world) and he would do a good job as a "pinch hitter" at the top of the order in ODI's. Matt Prior is the answer to England's wicket-keeping problems

  3. matt prior

  4. I think England should stop searching for a good keeper that could be handy with the bat and instead go for an excellent keeper even if his batting is only marginally better than Murali's.

I don't think it would be hard to find an excellent wicketkeeper in the county circuit.

This is for the tests only.

  5. Call back Geraint Jones if his domestic performance is OK. Or else, call Prior for tests. James Foster or Geraint Jones or Philip Mustard for ODIs (in that order).

  6. defenitly not ambrose no big score and keepers isnt much better. either prior or maybe phil mustard who has played a bit 4 england.

  7. G. Jones or M. Prior

  8. its pretty  tough becuse tim ambrose should not be playing as he hasnt got any big score in any matches against south africa geraint jones is becoming better batsman but not good enough matt prior is out of form so i think they should paul collingwood in for a game to see how he does whilst he is a very good fielder i must say, or you an put phil mustart inor even foster englan have lots of good wicket keepers but never pick them!!!!!!
