Todd Carney should be the number 7, he's in his best form while Anasta can cover the five eight spot.

  1. pearce and anasta cuz u know what you will get and they already have a formed combination.

  2. you answered your own question? lol

    finch + anasta

  3. Willie and Hindmarsh!

    No, really Anasta and Finch.

  4. Finch/Bird. if anyone thinks Anasta is p to origin level it's no wonder you lost the last series.

  5. anasta/carney

    OR

    bird/kimmorley

carney is play pretty good atm. Something tells me that finch is gonna stuff up.

  6. wallace and bird should be tried on the first game.finch and anasta have been there but the blues never won the series.it's a headache for the blues selector while the maroons have pretty much cover every positions.barring an injuries to the top players.they still have plenty of options.

  7. Greg Bird/Brett Finch (or Jarrod Mullen)

I think Bird should play at pivot, he's played there before in Origin and Test levels and he didn't s***w it up in either of those levels. Besides, NSW has plenty of talent in the forwards as it is.

I put Finch or Mullen in halfback mainly because of their kicking games, but I do believe that both of them put five-eighth as their preferred position. Finch is getting so much better under Andrew John's guidance, but I'm still not a huge fan. Mullen, I think, is very near Origin football, not quite there yet...but could very well handle it better [than he did last year and also better than Carney, Wallace or Pearce] considering his experience from last year and his form last week.

I do worry about whether the combination will gel or not...picking great combinations is better than picking great players, in my opinion. I feel a bit sorry for Anasta as well, his form has been really good, but you can't leave Bird out and putting him in the forwards would push someone else who's really deserving out as well (like I said, NSW is practically swimming in good forwards...Hindmarsh, Mason, Gallen, Hoffman, Laffranchi, Tupou, Kite, O'Meley, Ryan, Bailey, White, Cross, Watmough, G. Stewart...all of these guys could step up to the plate). Todd Carney...awesome field goal attempt in city/country, but not this year. I think Kurt Gidley would be better off the bench as a utility, he just really can play anywhere. If he's chosen at 7 though, he'll handle it; he did a great job filling in for Andrew Johns back in 2004.

Paint the state blue...lets win it for Buderus...

  8. finch and bird!

  9. mullen or gidley at halfback and anasta 5/8.. gidley needs 2 be on the field at either fullback or half for the 80 mins to secure a win..his too good to play half the game & he wuldnt be needed 2 lift the team after a while on the bench if he runs on coz it will be 50-0 lol yeaa knights

  10. Mullen/Bird or Carney/Bird.

I am a Knights supporter and i hope they don't put Gidley there, he either needs to be fullback if in case Stewart unavailable or Utility on the bench.

I don't like Anasta for the job of 5/8. They have tried himin the past and he has never lasted a whole serious, he usually gets dropped after game 1 or 2 because he has had a shocker. At least with Bird at 5/8 you know what you are getting.

I think for half they need to go for someone young like Carney or Mullen. Without Anasta at 5/8 i don't think Pearce has the capabilities to run a team around the paddock.

  11. I would have said Gidley/Bird, but Gidley seems like he just broke his cheekbone so i'll go with Orford/Bird.

  12. it doesn't  matter who it plays in the halves. don't think any are better or as good as the QLDers.  but maybe anasta at 6 and finch at 7 would be best.
