That younge childe has very little to do with wales, nice though he is.

Could we please get this debate rolling farther afield? It is an affront to many welshman to have an english prince invested, given the circumstances in which edward and the marcher barons took our land away. If you don't know what I'm saying, look it up.

  7. I think the Welsh should vote on that, someone that is respectable and hard working, from 'down the road'...  Decent people are worth far more than those 'royals'....

  8. Because its the Tradition of the Monachy ,The Queen rules the United Kingdom ,thats why its called that ,

  9. I agree that Charles has not been the best Prince of Wales.  Although he has set up the Princes Trust and many other projects designed to help those who are less fortunate.  If wasn't for the Diana thing I think most people would actually like him.

If you want Welsh princes, I am afraid you are out of luck as you would have to go back over 800 years to trace the last true Welsh Prince of Wales.

Also in regard to the comment about the King of Wales, Wales has always been a principality which is why it's leader is known as a Prince and not a King.  King being the name given to the ruler of a Kingdom, first known to be used by the Scandinavian Vikings.

This might be the only chance Russell, Heath or Eric gets to play the king of England.

Hollywood producer Gary Foster is planning a movie based on the life of Australian Michael Hastings, believed by some historians to be the rightful heir to the English throne.

Foster, who made Sleepless in Seattle and filmed Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage in Melbourne last year, optioned Hastings' story after seeing a documentary about him.

He would like to cast any of Australia's young male stars - Russell Crowe, Heath Ledger or Eric Bana - in the role of the country bloke who "chases his destiny" all the way to Buckingham Palace.

"That's one reason everyone is so excited," said Foster, who sold the idea for The Once and Future King to Universal Studios.

"We are using the essence of the Mike Hastings story and saying that if things had been different in history, this guy could have been the king of England," he said. "Mike is a funny, interesting guy, but he is just the jumping-off point."

Mr Hastings, who is known as "Kingsy" in the southern NSW town of Jerilderie, said of the film: "It will be great fun. I'll only be involved as a consultant. It's moved quite beyond my acting ability."

As for being played by one of Australia's leading men, he said: "I think they're all a bit on the slim side for me."

Mr Hastings, 63, who works for Rice Research Australia, is a widower with five children and six grandchildren.

Born in England, he migrated to Australia in 1960 and worked as an encyclopedia salesman and a jackaroo.

Two years ago, a group of English historians led by Tony Robinson, an actor in the Blackadder TV series, appeared at his home to tell him he was royalty. They were filming a BBC documentary, Britain's Real Monarch (shown on ABC TV last May).

Michael Jones, a medieval scholar, had found strong evidence that the 15th-century King Edward IV was illegitimate, which invalidated his and his heirs' claim to the throne.

The royal line, he said, should have extended through his brother George, Duke of Clarence. Mr Hastings is a direct descendant of George

  17. History is what it is.  Wales lost.  Edward I made his son, Edward II Prince of Wales and it has continued until this day.  Perhaps Wales should look to Ireland, if they want their land back.

  18. Aren't they German??

  19. Charles should be Prince of Wales.

He's spent his entire life learning how to do it, and well.

He raises tonnes of money, promotes good causes and helps the needy - Wales couldn’t have a better person on their side.

The first time I can remember hearing about a place named Wales was in reference to Prince Charles.
