As this is about the break up of the UK and will effect generations to come should all UK citizens have a vote in any referrendum?

Or should it just be Scottish residents who vote?

  1. I think it should only be Scots...they are the ones effected by the outcome. I don't think it would really have much effect on the rest of the UK. I can't see the point in a Welsh or English person having a say on it....just my opinion;)

  2. Just the Scottish people should be allowed to vote, and if and when they find themselves independent, they may find out that the grass in not always greener on the other side.

  3. JUST SCOTTISH RESIDENTS SHOULD DECIDE ABOUT THIER OWN COUNTRY AND CONSTITUTION

    GOOD LUCK

  4. I think all Britain including Northern Ireland should be allowed to vote on this issue.

  5. Everybody in the UK should vote - after all, THEY vote on everything which ISN'T any business of THEIRS so lets ALL have a go !

  6. Anyone permanently resident in Scotland, no matter where they came from in the first place.

By permanent, I mean registered to vote. It's the fairest way to do it.

The rest of the UK can do one. The vote wouldn't affect them in the slightest, and bleating about Scottish votes at Westminster is, well, nothing more than sour grapes. And I note it's only the Unionist parties that do it in the first place. The SNP at Westminster abstain from all votes that don't affect Scotland.

I'd post the Big Lie link... but someone's beaten me to it!

LPW... the grass might prove not to be any greener, but it'll be our bloody grass. That's the point of independence. It will probably be better. It might be worse. But it'll be ours.

  7. robert x : who cares what an anglo american thinks so but out.  as far as the vote should go it should be only those who live in scotland who get to vote; and beleve me there are a lot of english people living here also.

as far as scots voting on english issiues you will find that many scots mp's in westminster abstain from voting on english only matter unless ordered to vote by there masters.

Funny how the same old english racists on here moan about scotland having the position of power unlike pre97 when we were NEVER listened to by westminster or the english people.  Now you have a taste of it It is Soooo unfair.  welcome to the mess that is the union.  As far as independance goes im a scott who is happy to be part of the union as long as england get there own parlament as well (seperate from westminster).  However due to the same old tripe over how we in scotland are spongers i Want to go alone just to show that we are more than capable of prospering.

  8. i for one am totally in favour of independance for scotland , why is brown so against the people of scotland having the right to be independant ? well just think about it he would be unemployed along wit alistait darling (the black and white minstrel) and als the misterious armed forces minister, why the  english are so against it i dont know as they will be free of the unemployed scottish mps in westminster, there is of course another matter of 9.5billion in revenue that the chancellor whoever that may be will have to find to fund their various wars that they can dream up.another point why is Brown so in favour of one of the balkan states gaining independance when he is so against his own people deciding their own destiny, of course the man is a fool and a back stabber you would be welcome to keep him

  9. they can have Gordon Brown back too !!!

  10. Since their Politicians vote on issues affecting England I believe the English should vote whether to keep the whinging ingrates in the union. It's our tax money that subsidises free uni education, soon to be scrapped prescription charges and free installation central heating for their elderly.

<Edit> Mowhokman, how exactly would our protest for equal benefits be funded when £8 billion of our money goes annually to Scotland? Also MPs in Scottish Parliament can vote on issues affecting England, not only Scots in Westminster. I am not an English racist, but I am an English patriot.

English Democrats want 'the immediate abandonment of the Barnett formula. The formula institutionalises discrimination against the people of England by ensuring that public spending in Scotland and Wales is far higher per head of population than in England. The Barnett formula diverts about £8 billion of extra public expenditure to Scotland each year. This means that the entire population of Scotland enjoys a subsidy averaging £30 per person per week. This has meant, for example, smaller class sizes in Scotland, higher pay for teachers, shorter hospital waiting lists, and the availability of prescription drugs and surgical procedures which are unavailable in England on grounds of cost'.

  11. personally i think everyone should vote to let Scotland go.

I know that the supposedly non raciest (Ferrari babe) wull vote to let us go.  i think the union is dead thanks to Westminster's mismanagement for decades and decades..

one thing i agree with.. we have a parliament made up of Scots and you have yours made up of english.  you have your pass port and we have ours.

realistically Scotland wull nae be free due to the EUski controlling all government. and the traitor Gordon Brownakov selling the UK out with the Queens blessing to the communist EUski.

personally i hate with all my being Westminster (English Parliament)  and everyone in it.  i do nae know if Holyrood wull be any better in the end. i do know we are controlled by Brussels,

the European Union Parliament is the only government in the world that is worse than and more corrupt than the present UK government.

let the nation vote for opinion  let Scotland leave.

one thing i do think if my fellow Scots wull no fight to be free, if they wull no risk it for a chance to be a nation on its own head held high. then Scotland does nae deserve freedom and should be absorbed by the EU and gone forever just like what is about to happen to the English. fight for your freedom or forget it. vote for it or shut up.

England is about to disappear as a Sovereign nation when the EU takes control of everything to include  military ,weapons, police , health care , you name it they control it. and the Queen wull sign the document in June

  12. People in Scotland who are on the electoral roll.

  13. British citizens who reside in Scotland should have the vote.

  14. I'm  Anglo American... I'm sick to death of  hearing about Scottish Independence  and  how down trodden and  oppressed the  Scottish people from self  obsessed politicians  who have  less than  one  3/d of the popular  vote .

For gods  sake just get on with it ,,

  15. The Scottish people will and should be the only ones to vote on the future of their nation. The Scots are the ones who have brought this to the table, by voting for a democratically elected SNP government. If the English are happy to be governed by the Labour or Tory androids in Westminster then that's their choice. The Scottish people saw fit to kick out the Tories a long time ago, and the same thing has happened to New Labour, why? well because these parties in Scotland are tied to and are run by the big boys in London, they do not have the Scottish people's interest at heart, and never have!

Scottish people have had to endure decades of disdain and hostility from Westminster and have had Westminster authority and policies imposed on them for centuries, one only has to remember the poll tax that was inflicted upon Scotland before any other part of the UK, so if the last few years have been a bit easier for the Scots then it's all good I say.

Also remember Scotland has voted in a government that has decided to spend the money they get on things that Scottish people want, smaller class sizes, free care for the elderly, the abolition of tuition fees, and the soon to be free prescriptions, to me thats good government. If the English want these things then they should vote in a government that is going to give it to them, or demand it from the government they've already got, instead of whinging about it over the fence or down the pub.

My final point is that the English are continually moaning about having to pay for all these things in Scotland, which is completely untrue. Scotland has the third largest GDP of any region in the UK outside of Greater London and the south east, it is also a net exporter of energy and one of the largest energy powerhouses in Europe, where do all you English think you get your electricity from? If Scotland does achieve independence then expect English taxes to go up by 4p in the pound, so if you want the 'dependant' Scots who are a burden on the rest of the UK to have independence, then go ahead, i'm not complaining!
