Who should have won more Slam titles: Jana Novotna or Gabriela Sabatini?

Sabatini and Jana always seemed to be on the cusp of greatness. But many feel their careers came up short. Which one should have one more Slams?. Here's a quick look at what they did win:

Jana's Slam came at 1998 Wimbledon, when she beat Natalie Tauziat. Jana won 24 singles titles and played in 4 Slam finals. Jana had a golden opportunity to win her first Slam at 1993 Wimbledon, but left Steffi Graf off the hook.

Sabatini's only Slam came at the 1990 US Open, when she upset Steffi. Sabatini won 27 singles titles & played in 3 Slam finals. Sabatini had a chance to cash in on a second Slam at 1991 Wimbledon. In a thrilling final, Steffi dispatched Sabatini 8-6 in the 3rd set.

Jana and Sabatini had the talent to win more Slams, but they underachieved. I feel Jana had a little more natural ability than Sabatini, so Jana gets my vote as the player who should have won more Slams.

Compare their careers, and tell me who should have won more Slams?. And please explain your answer?.

just to clarify-gabi was only in two other finals after her win at u.s. open,not three. novotna was a R-U three times.

looking at the comparison of results,there really isn't a much in between them in terms of their performances in those final losses. but considering jana was in one more that sabatini she probably could have taken one of those wins. but the same could be said of sabatini since she did lose a very close 8-6 in the third to steffi at wimby. so both,imo,did have the chances to. they both should have won at least one of them.

While both had the opportunities to win more than just the one slam they won, I believe Sabatini should have won more. For a while when she and Graf had just emerged on the tour as the new stars of the next generation, it was assumed that Sabatini would have gone on to achieve a lot more than she did at the slams.
