heres my options....

jorge cantu

carlos Pena-coming off the dl this weel

james loney

conor jackson

kevin millar

lyle overbay

chris duncan-pujols replacement until hes off the DL

im having a hard time here because each guy is good and bad for different reasons....im leaning towards pena or cantu mainly because they can hit a lot of HR, but who knows if pena will be like he was last year and just go on a hitting spree, and then duncan i think i should give a chance because hes just a good all around player and will be an everyday player and pena isnt with willy aybar playing great right now...help!

  1. carlos pena is the best player in that list

  2. go with Cantu. He's been absolutely on fire as of late. Tonight he was 3/4 with 2 HRs. Cantu should be enough to make up some of the lost #s from Pujols, plus he should be very solid the rest of the season. Look for him to have a very similar year to his 2005-2006  breakout season.

In the long run though, Pena is the best player available. However, he probably won't be able to really contribute until a week or so after he settles in and heats up a bit.

  3. Can't go wrong with Cantu. Although Pena has so much upside and potential to tare it up. I say Cantu for now cuz you can play him at 3B.

  4. either cantu or conor jackson. i would take conor jackson for long term value. cantu has been on fire lately, and he will cool down. conor jackson doesn't have as much power, but he does have the consistency. it depends on short or long term value. if you need to win categories now, then you stick with cantu.

  5. Thats a hard one. Cantu is having a break-out year but its still early he could do a complete 180 and all his stats could head south and be bad. Pena will give u HRs and RBIs but thats about it. I would give Jackson a look before Pena but in the end Cantu seems like the best bet.

  6. i've got Pena & Jackson but Jacksons been more consistent, especially if you have doubles & triples categories. Pena has flopped this year before he got hurt, just like Thome, good for a solo home run every 4 games and nothing in between.

  7. Pena ain't coming back as soon as expected.  Looney good for average but he may not get regular at-bats.  Conor just coming back from a quad injury.  Millar isn't consistent enough.  Overbay is...  well forget 'em.  Duncan - too many strikeouts and average around .240.

I would take Cantu in a heartbeat if he's available.
