I pick 4th then 21st then 28th and so on and so forth, (aka i pick 4th in a 12 man league and the draft order is reversed every other round), my fist thought is Steve Jackson or tom Brady or Brian Westbrook depending on who is left for the first pick. but I'm really new to fantasy football, what positions should i go for first, QB's or RB's like what position should i draft with each pick?

  1. You want to draft at least one player at each position in the first few rounds so you're not weak in any particular area.  Who you draft is up to you.

  2. In a 12 team league i would most definitely make my 1st and 2nd round pick a RB. At pick 4 you will be choosing from either Westbrook or S.Jax,but you never know one of the top 2 guys LT or Peterson may fall. Don't worry about rd1 because you are assured one of these 4 guys.

I like Brady also but most managers focus on Rb's in the first 2 rounds and 2 or 3 QB's may go as well and definitely Moss and Owens will go to. That will free up some more RB's for you to choose from in rd.2. When rd.3 rolls around grab the best WR you can find like Wayne Edwards or Fitzgerald.

I typically don't take a QB until rd4 or rd5 and you will be in line to land a guy like Big Ben Palmer Brees D.Anderson or McNabb. The top 3 QB's of Brady P.Manning and Romo will be long gone but the difference in point/week between Romo Manning and Roethlisberger Palmer Brees and so on is about 2-4 points/week on average. If you can hold out until rd 5 for a QB you can solidify your top 2 RB and top 2 WR then grab your QB and in rd 6 look to lock up either Witten or Winslow as you TE and your team will do a lot of damage.

As a side note try to land Minnesota's D this year and I guarantee you that they will produce BIG time point for you all year long.

    Good Luck Rookie.....

If you don't like my scenario take the best available player on the board and you will do fine

Dont listen to the 1st guys list of the top ten in 2008. There is absolutely no way you take a WR in the top 3 if you pass on a a RB there you will be so screwed when rd 2 rolls around because all of the top 15 RB's will be gone.

Some of the guys he has listed in his top ten are a complete joke especially Portis and LJ. LJ is all but washed up and he has a weak O-Line in front of himand no QB that = disaster for a fantasy RB.  If you want to check ranking use the links at espn.com, fanball.com,rotoworld.com,and yahoo is pretty good also buy a magazine. Look at all the so called "experts rankings" and see which one's are the most consistent. If you see the same player names repeatedly in the same area then you can feel pretty confident of that player. Also look at the expert' s mock drafts and see where guys are continually drafted.

  3. You sound like you got the right idea, Jackson/Westbrook/Brady are all good picks for #4.  I would recommend always a RB to start and also with your 2nd pick or a WR if your playing a 3 WR game..

If you need practice, try www.sportsline.com/fantasy

They have mock drafts there so you can test your ideas out against other players, you can also choose the #4 pick in a 12 team scenario.  Good luck

  4. Here are the top ten drafting players for 08:

    1 LaDainian Tomlinson (SD-RB)

    2 Tom Brady (NE-QB)

    3 Randy Moss (NE-WR)

    4 Brian Westbrook (Phi-RB)

    5 Adrian Peterson (Min-RB)

    6 Joseph Addai (Ind-RB)

    7 Steven Jackson (StL-RB)

    8 Clinton Portis (Was-RB)

    9 Ryan Grant (GB-RB)

    10 Larry Johnson (KC-RB)

*You can must certainly count on LT 1st pick, Tom Brady 2nd pick, Randy Moss or Brian W. to be picked 3rd pick.

If I were you be smart about this smart Football Drafters no which order to pick there players (unless there football Kings like TomB. and people think they have to have him. Laugh at them when he gets injured second week.)

    Most leagues have 1 Qb, 2 Rbs, 2-4 Wr, 1 Te, 1 P, 1 K, 1 ST

    some on bench

DONT EVER GET TWO GUYS ON THE SAME TEAM FOR THE SAME POSITION

Pick 4&21: You want your RB's first. They will touch the ball more than any other player on the feild except the Center and the QB.

since your 4th round I'd say Adrian Peterson/Brian Westbrook and if your real antsy Darren McFadden (rookie).

Pick 28: Then you want your QB. Don't be alarmed, you will probably be offered guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer or Matt Hassleback.

i recommend Carson Palmer why you may ask?  because He has reached 4,000 passing yards for second straight season

Pick 45: I would recommend getting a quality WR like Marvin Harrison or Chad Johnson. These will most likely be taken, so I would recommend guys like Chris Chamber or Anquan Boldin

Pick 51: I would then again recommend another WR from the same list above if you can.

Pick 68: I would start looking at your TE, this guy wont get as many passes as the WR but hey you need him to complete the offence. I would try Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark, Chris Cooley, Jeremy Shockley, and Todd Heap.

Pick 75: If you have the option to go for another WR Look back at the WR. You will not have the same option as before most likely but if you do take them. Some other guys to look at Joey Galloway, Donald Driver, Santana Moss, Donte' Stalworth, Marty Booker and Vincent Jackson. If you don't look at You ST/D, these guys will be your Defense Some Good Teams are Chicago, Minnesota, Green Bay, Indianapolis and New York.

Pick 92: If you have the option to go for another WR dry and find some of the guys before. If you have the option of going for your first ST/D look at the ones above, but they might not be there so look the next ones down the line. If you have both your WR slots and Your ST D slot filled, I would look for your back-up RB. This guy will play 1 game, but you need to make sure it's a guy that won't let you down, if your starter gets injured.

Pick 98:  Options: Get your K and Punter. Then on your next pick get the oppisite you got on this pick.

Then all you should have left are your benches. Pick your benches in this order.

QB- pick guys like Jake Delhomme

    WR

    WR

    TE

ST/D- pick a team like Miami (the 2008 Miami =])

    K

    P

there you go. hope it helps. i have used this set-up for 5 years now and one 2 championships and made the playoffs in the other 3. (picking different player names of course)

    helpsful ranking links below:

  5. Stay away from Steven Jackson.  His injury last year will slow him down this year.  Brady is safe because he still has an awesome core of receivers.  Westbrook is good because he runs and catches passes.  Tomlinson is also a weapon that you don't want to pass up.  2 straight rushing titles can't be wrong.  Adrian Peterson is also going to be a stud.  If Brady isn't available, take a RB with the first pick.
