Who should replace Torres at Liverpool
Since Roy Hodgson has already admitted defeat in retaining Fernando Torres for another season and has said that it is now up to the player to decide what he does, this has created a number of transfer links to Liverpool for players that would be looking to replace Torres as the attacking threat at Anfield.
First on the list is Diego Forlan. It was reported that Roy Hodgson was lining up a bid for the striker, to lure him back to the Premier League to play at Anfield. The thirty one year old was nothing less than outstanding at the World Cup in South Africa, which saw him take home the Golden Ball. The striker has been in form for a while now and at the price tag of a mere fifteen million he will be able to provide the cutting edge that Liverpool need. Considering his age this cutting edge will be short lived however.
Loic Remy who is a twenty three year old French striker, has constantly been linked to a move to Anfield. The highly rated player is being called the next Thierry Henry. He has had an impressive season with Nice, which saw him score sixteen goals. He is six feet tall and can play as both a winger and an all out striker. He is pacy and posses some elegant finishing. Though there are numerous clubs looking to sign the player Liverpool are still considered to be the favorites to land him this transfer window.
Klass Jan Huntelaar who is twenty six years old has been heavily linked with Liverpool over the last couple of weeks. The Dutch forward has been compared to players like, van Basten and Van Nistelrooy. He is over flowing with talent and has tremendous technique and athleticism. He might not be the quickest of player, but his technique and talents help overcome that factor. He is over six feet tall and possesses the perfect dimensions that a target man could ask for. He is currently out of favorites at Milan and is looking for more first team football. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him wear the red of Liverpool this coming season.
Jermain Defoe has been linked with numerous transfers before and it was surprising when he was linked with more transfers this transfer window. He has had a highly impressive season with Tottenham and scored twenty four goals for the Spurs last term. He has some of the best clinical finishing in the world. He is quick and has an eye for the goal, making him a perfect option for any team to consider. It might seem highly unlikely that the player will want to leave Tottenham this summer considering they qualified for the Champions League while Liverpool didn’t. However Liverpool could definitely use someone like Defoe in there suqad. He would provide the width and the pace up front for them and could fill the gap that Torres leaves in the team if he does decide to depart.
