Who still buys CDs? (I love the tangibility)

I really just want to hear from people who do. Why do you still do it?

I absolutely love the tangibility of owning CDs. I recently realized that they are, in fact, something I collect. I think the digital revolution is inevitable, and I can appreciate it to an extent, but I really hope CD production never stops. I like to have them all on a big shelf and be sitting around with a group of friends and people can look through them and decide what to play, look at the album art, etc.

I know you can look up album art and lyrics on the internet, but it just isn't the same to me.

I use itunes mainly to download catchy little numbers I hear on commercials or to test out a band before I decide whether or not I want to purchase a CD.

I mainly buy cheap used CDs in good condition from amazon.

Even as the digital revolution overturns the record industry, I will go on buying CDs as long as artists still put them out.

How about you?

  1. I do!  I hit the local Good Will stores, yard sales, etc., and buy them.  I really like getting the compilation CD's that have the more popular songs on them or the soundtracks from movies.  I especially like that type of CD because then I can get the most popular of the songs (instead of the "B" side songs).  The next thing I do is download them on iTunes for my iPod.

  2. i still buy cd's!!  cuz then i have them for my stereo and i can put them on my mp3 for free! its great and i love them.

  3. I still buy them. It was hard to lose cassette tapes when cds came along, harder still to give up vinyl with all that cover space for really intricate and intriguing artwork. The tangibility factor plays a big part though. I can't see myself giving up all my cds for a 120GB iPod (when they start selling them that big).

I get my used discs from a local shop, Armadillo Music. Nothing beats being able to dig through a bargain bin on 99 cent day and scoring one of my favorites from years ago.

  4. yeah, i have a lot of CD's and i still get them. Just now everyones using ipods, I out my CD songs into my ipod. Its much cheaper then paying like 2 bucks for a song.

usually a an album has 12 songs if i buy each song on itunes that would be like 24$

a CD itself is like, 12$, the cheapest.

  5. Yes I still do, I love to collect them
