JUST because it's drizzling outside, doesn't mean you slow other people down. If you are afraid to drive in the rain, GET OFF THE EFFIN' ROAD!! I had to pass TWO cars tonight because they were going ridiculously slow on the highway. I admit I broke the law and passed one vehicle on a double lane road, but they were going DOWNHILL between 35-40 mph in a 55 mph zone ON THE HIGHWAY! It was straight and clear 'cept for a little sprinkle. People from Florida that have visited California know what I'm talking about. Californians think that sprinkling is raining! Crazy Californians. I may be Californian, but I don't drive as slow as old people write checks! C'mon! It's only sprinkling! Find that gas pedal, grandpa!

  1. Calm down, it sounds like you have a bad case of road rage and impatience! People drive slow in bad weather because they know they are safer doing so. If they want to drive safely, that is THEIR business. If you feel the need to drive recklessly and endanger yourself and others you are the one who should not be on the road!!

  2. So you're saying that you passed a car, on a double lane road, that was going 15 mph below the limit while going downhill in the rain? Wow, I don't even know what to say to you.

  3. Tell me when you find out, I live in Washington, it rains a lot. People are always goin slow when it rains for no good reason, it really cheeses me off!

  4. Obviously you've never driven in Hawaii...You would go nuts.

  5. You think you're immune to accidents? You think your car stops better than anyone else's in the rain? Rain and downhill?

I can certainly relate to frustration over how California over-uses the double yellow line. They make passing illegal instead of providing places to do it. But you describe a place where you had one lane and the other side had two lanes. That often occurs two kinds of places, one is a twisty mountain road, and another is a long downgrade exceeding 8% (trucks warnings and stuff). Since you said it was downhill...? I hope not... going down an 8% grade at 55 in the rain would be dicey.

California also picks lousy paving materials, and California roads often get slipperier than most when wet. Law says "safe speed for conditions" trumps posted limits. It's true cops tend to assume California drivers are idiots, but given the rate at which they flip cars over on perfectly dry road, you can't blame em. CA urban folk never encounter enough bad weather to actually have fear and respect for weather, and never learn how to make a car do what you want in sub-optimal conditions. The 8 times in their entire driving career that they slip a wheel is not enough to teach them how to avoid or recover from it.

  6. OK dude - first yes it is annoying

second - it is NOT illegal to drive slow. If it is a multi lane road they need to stay in the right lane I agree.

third and most important - there may be a reason they are driving slow. (besides being bad drivers) Last time I had kidney stones and was taken to the Hospital, I swear I felt every pebble the tires rode over. Rain or drizzle may or may not have been the reason they where driving slow.

Of course they also could be just stupid drivers...............

  7. People usually drive as fast or slow as they're comfortable with under the conditions. I admit I sometimes grumble, but I don't think I'm so important that the rules don't apply. I hate tailgaters because 6 times you've been too close when something unexpected happened. I've paid for your idiocy and I think it would be a public service to make you walk.

  8. No c**p Like today on my way to work, merge lane Not a Stop lane theirs traffic coming and the slow butt driver dam near causes a pile up... There should be a no blue hair folks allowed driving during rush hour.

  9. obviously you are unaware that 55 is the SPEED LIMIT not the recommended rate.

any reasonable speed under 55 is legal and totally acceptable.

grow up. you dont own the bloody road.

  10. Flip them off and run them in the ding weeds

  11. I would have done the same thing. Don't listen to those hypocrites. They may cry what you did was "illegal" and you were "impatient" but I HIGHLY doubt that they would stay behind a car going 10mph in a 55mph because there is a double solid line. EVERYBODY would have made the pass especially if there was no other cars in sight.

In your situation, I wouldn't have even known how fast they were going, because once I noticed they were going slower than me, I would have already been over the double solid yellow line passing them and left them in the dust w/o missing the beat to the song on the radio.
