  1. The children need to be taken into custody until further investigation can be completed.  The simple allegation forces the local government to take action, otherwise their liability rises and the possibility of other children becoming victims is on them.

I agree, the men are the ones who need to be arrested.  But until the investigation and interviews can be conducted, there will not be enough evidence to place them (the men) into custody for any crimes.  The system is working the way it was designed, for better or for worse, why not let it run its course and do it's job.  Hopefully in the end, the men will be the ones taken away!

  2. I think they should.  I am all for freedom of religion, but when your religion does illegal things, something has to be done.  I heard on the radio that after these young girls are forced into "religious" marriages, they are made to have s*x in front of the whole church with their new husband.  There is a bed in the front of the church.  That is crazy.  This is rape.  Older men are having s*x with young children.  Children that because they don't know anything else, think it's alright to live like this.

  3. As my husband said last night, "If the Mormons [or whoever they broke off from] don't want them, that's pretty bad!"

I saw a Larry King interview with the women from the sect last night and one of them stated that the outside world doesn't understand them and they don't understand the outside world.  They also made the point that we wouldn't like it if someone just came in and took our kids away from us [for no apparent reason].  To be fair, these two statements are pretty valid and make you think about things from their point of view.

All that said, I do not agree with their "lifestyle" and have an 11 yr. old daughter of my own. . .I shudder to think of her in that situation.  And supposedly, they cast out boys as young as 14 yrs. as they are "competition" to the older men.  What is a 14 yr. boy supposed to do alone in the world?!?  No money, no skills, no education, no family. . .yikes!  How do they survive?!?

And in my opinion, the whole sect is just based on s*x.  Old men wanting to scr*w all night long with young women.  Why else would you have multiple wives?!?  You know these women are beaten into submission and/or brainwashed.  They are very careful about what they say and will not comment/answer certain questions (for fear of getting in trouble with the men I'm sure).  They have to be beaten - why else would they be so submissive and willing to have so many children with these old men?  That's just not "normal"!!

  4. Lose custody to who? The state foster care system has no room for them. I don't think the kids should be subjected to the FDLS lifestyle, but i'm not sure where else they can go. If I had an answer to that question, the custody issue would be a no brainer.

  5. No they should not lose custody of their children. There is no proof to child abuse. They are on tv answering questions and not answering questions. The journalist have a right to ask what they want and they have the right to not answer the ones they don't want to answer. Not answering a few questions does not make them guilty.

  6. These brainwashed polygamist women allowed the males in their cult to marry off and impregnate young girls. Yes they deserve to lose custody of their kids, and the male perpetrators (fathers) deserve some hard time. DNA tests should reveal which kid is whose.

  7. Until we hear the whole story we cannot make a judgment .

If they are guilty of sexual abuse and physical abuse, then they should lose custody...but the women are not going to testify.

  8. If its is proven that these children were abused then yes they should lose custody. As far as teenage girls being married to men over the age of 18 ( and this case alot older than 18), those men should be prosecuted under rape charges and their parents should be charged for the delinquency of a minor. They should all see prison time, and the girls should be removed from the site, if they want to return when they are 18, that's their own business. But our laws state that minors are not capable or legal to make the decision to be married at that age, let alone have children with these pedophiles.

  9. From what I know I think they should let the women and children stay home and arrest the men.The state could help the women and children.I seen on the news last night that family members outside of the church wanted to take in some of the children. But it is going to be impossible to find enough families to take care of that many children considering there are so many kids already waiting for adoption. Most likely the state will get stuck with the expenses one way or another.
