Who thinks Andrew demetriou should resign?

Andrew Demetriou is the weakest president the VFL/AFL has ever had. He makes comments about clubs (EG - "Sydney will never win a flag with the style of game they play" Yet win it that year!), exposes gamblers but refuses to name DRUG CHEATS. Is satisfied with Ben Cousins statement to the public without stating why he went to rehab for fear of getting banned!

Tries to BAN a player (AKERMANIS) for speaking out against drugs and told to tell the authorities which he did but was IGNORED! PLUS he allows the game to be reduced into mediocrity!! He is spineless and unlike his predecessors (ROSS OAKEY - VISIONARY and WAYNE JACKSON - STRONG WILLED) seems to be content with allowing the game to become weak. His tenure has been littered with controversy and poor decision making. History will regard him as a JOKE! As well it SHOULD!!!

The only reason I'd want this bloke to resign from the position would be to replace him with someone from outside Victoria.

It's AFL now - not still the VFL. The sooner these Vic clubs, who can't financially support themselves, were made to stand on their own two feet the better.

The AFL falls over backwards to support these clubs over the teams from outside Vic. Having a president from SA, for example, would do the competition the world of good.

Yeah true. I don't like him. But I agree with the drug policy because although it's bad for the game, the player may have some psychological condition and being labeled a drug cheat won't help them get off it. I don't like akermanis though...but then again it was channel 7's fault. I didn't like his comments on Sydney and how he doesn't like their style. He has no right to take sides he has to look at the comp at a whole, and shouldn't make statements about clubs because of his personal opinion. Yeah anyway he should go now.

Andrew and his band of idiots do not know how to market the game. The AFL always complains about lack of money, yet they make less than zero of an effort to tap into the USA. ESPN has so much money they don't know what to do with it. Footy is not on television here in America, well, yes it is on some obscure satellite channel that nobody can see  (Setanta). Andrew thought he was a genius when Setanta was brought on, but NOBODY CAN SEE THE d**n CHANNEL!!!

If Kevin Sheedy doesn't become the coach of the Dees, bring him on. He cares about the game, marketing, Aboriginal players, etc.

I agree. Demetriou should go back to selling dental supplies and Adrian Anderson can carry his bags. Fancy attacking Channel 7, when all they were doing is their job, news.

How they could let Cousins back in the game without any penalty is unreal.

Reality is that drugs are everywhere in our society and in the AFL too. If you want to rid the sport of drugs, you have to take a very strong stance to it. EG: if you are caught then you get a life ban.

Mate Ive said it on here before and I'll say it again,what can you expect from a lawyer/soft c@ck one time footballer,Demetriou is more at home drinking red wine and attending the theatre than at the footy and should be replaced with someone who is in touch with the football public and some one who wants to see hard tough/skillful footy being played instead of the tiggy touch $h!t we are seeing these days.

Thats some nice venting there, mate. Jackson left the game in a pretty good state, its a shame he left. How about kick out Demitriou, and install Plugger as the new president? He`d sort the b******s out.

Besides the Sydney thing- which did give me the sh*ts- and his soft as a baby's bum approach to Cousins- I honestly haven't given him much thought, but I reckon you're right. Notice shot of him yawning his way through the game he went to last week end? I reckon Plugga's a great choice! ...or Sheeds hasn't much on at the moment.
