  1. He is not going to win any grandslams again ever, and will do well to win a masters event. His only chance of a title now is small tournaments. Considering that he is a former number 1 and a grand slam winner, I don't see what's left for him to play for.

  2. If we should base retirement on choking in important matches, James Blake should retire first.  At least Andy lost to a quality up-and-coming player (Tipsarevic), not a guy ranked in the 90s whose going through the motions until he can't qualify for tournaments anymore (Schuettler?  Seriously).

Andy was once a champion.  Probably overhyped at this point because of the state of American tennis.  That doesn't mean he's at the point to retire.

  3. I do not watch as much tennis as I should. But, I never miss Wimbledon, and it does seem each year they hype him up, and he chokes. I realize Federer is phenominal on grass, but Roddick doesn't even usually make it to the final. This year he was beaten earlier than I have ever seen him. Still, I realize that there are not that many "great" American men tennis players when it comes to Wimbledon, and I guess the overhype is warranted to the occasion.

He is fun to watch though, you have to admit. He is so dramatic with his disappointment, frustration etc. Do I think he should retire, no. Does he need to step up his game.....a resounding YES.

  4. Roddick is a very talented player.  The problem is with some of these players is that they win a tournament and think that they are above the coaches.  The best coach he ever had was Gilbert and he fired him and ever since he has only being going down because he thinks he can do it alone.  i hope he would find someone and really train to be good as he is talented.

  5. he should play

  6. There is no need for someone to retire, just because they lose a few matches.   A few months ago he was winning, and he may again.    A person can retire when they feel like retiring, or no longer enjoy what they are doing.    If all the people ranked below #10 or so retire, who will be left to play?

  7. I know, being in the TOP TEN is sooooo horible, right?

  8. no, he is still young and in the top ten...he should though, get someone like brad gilbert or any coach and help him with his mental game...thats what i think is really keeping him from winning

  9. he should start some tennis camp or ever better just do some modeling with his gf LOL

  10. He's younger than Federer and still in the top ten. Why don't you ask this question again in 4 or 5 years time? Roddick's still going, maybe not quite as strong as he used to, but I can't see him retiring. Plus, he's fun to watch and always puts on a good match, I don't think I want him to retire either.

  11. He's young enough at 25 (turning 26 in August) to still be competitive for several more years.  He may never be in the top 3 again or even win a slam title, but he's got some more miles left in him.  The journey is just as, if not more, important than the destination, so he should play as long as he has the desire and motivation to compete, regardless of the results.

  12. i am not a fan of roddick but he still make a good living and perhaps win a few more tournaments, just not the majors.

i think he will and can play for a few more years, no reasons for him to retire yet.

  13. He's only 26.  He's made $775,712.00 in prize money this year.  And, as of today he's still number 6 in the world.  I've never been a fan of Roddick, but it seems to me that he is still making a decent living out of playing tennis.  But I don't think it matters what anyone else thinks... only he can decide when it's time to retire.  I don't think it's something that numbers and figures can determine...
