Cotto vs Trinidad (current/and/or prime)

Cotto vs De La Hoya (current/and/or prime)

Cotto vs Mosely - rematch (current/and/or prime)

Cotto vs Mayweather

Cotto vs Hatton

I personaly think Cotto is extremly overrated, dont get me wrong i like cotto a lot i think he is a good fighter and exciting to watch but i think he still has a lot of questions to answer as far as how good he is. I mean everyone whining about mayweather not taking a fight with him but what is Cotto really doing to better himself or get a shot? Choosing to fight gomez then mayorga are poor decisions on his part and wont prove anything unless of course he happens to lose to one of those bums. If floyd wont fight him yet why is he not chasing the other top welterweights meanwhile to earn his shot? I dont just mean the figthters i listed im talking margarito/cintron/williams etc. I personaly think he would lose to everyone i listed in the question with the exception of hatton i think he would destroy hatton. Opinions?

  1. I don't think that he is overrated but I understand where you're coming from with the whole Floyd situation- Mayeather is not scared to fight Cotto like everyone says, he just won't fight him until he feels like the time is right.  Floyd is a master businessman and he knows that if he waits a while longer, the fight will be all that much bigger and more winnable for him.  As for your matchups.

Cotto vs. Trinidad (now)- Cotto wins, but if the fight happened at 170, Trinidad has a better chance.  Cotto walks around at like 170-180, so I think that he could still compete against a past his prime Trinidad at that weight.

Cotto vs. Trinidad (prime)- Trinidad wins at 147 or any weight that they choose to fight at.  Cotto started out at 140 and was rocked at that weight by Demarcus Corley and got a hometown stoppage in that fight.  If Corley and Ricardo Torres almost knocked him out at 140, then "Tito" would knock him out at any weight.  Trinidad would also not take Cotto's dirty tactics like Zab Judah did because Trinidad was a bit dirty himself, so he would retaliate if Cotto tried that on him.

Cotto vs. De La Hoya (now)- I think that Cotto would win, but it would be fairly close.  De La Hoya has good handspeed even to this day which would give Cotto problems like it did in the Mosley fight.  I still think that Cotto would be too much for De La Hoya at this stage though.

Cotto vs. De La Hoya (prime)- Oscar wins a decision.  Oscar would be too fast for Cotto and would give him a boxing lesson by moving in and landing crisp combinations and then zooming out and using lateral movement.

Cotto vs. Mosley (rematch/now)- In their first fight, they landed the same amount of punches, so that shows you that Mosley still has a lot left, and he even had Cotto backing up towards the end of the fight.  If Mosley could have stayed out of range more in the middle rounds, then he could have won because on the outside he was outboxing Cotto.  Mosley tried to make it too much of a fight and he paid for it by losing the decision.  A rematch would be a toss-up fight just like their first fight- if Mosley makes the proper adjustments, then I think he could win.

Cotto vs. Mosley (prime)- If Mosley can almost beat Cotto now, then there is no doubt in my mind that a prime Mosley would beat him.

Cotto vs. Mayweather- Floyd wins by decision.  Cotto would put pressure on him, but Floyd would adapt to it, just like he does with all of his fights.  Floyd is too good defensively and too accurate with his punches for Cotto, not to mention his hands are way faster.  I see this fight going similar to the way that the second Jose Luis Castillo fight went.

Cotto vs. Hatton- Cotto wins easily.  Hatton is good at 140, but at 147, the top dogs are too big/skilled for him.  In his first fight at 147 he barely beat Luis Collazo in a fight that some people thought he lost and he got owned by Mayweather.  Cotto would knock him out simply because he is too big and too strong for him.

  2. Cotto is good but not over rated.

He has fought some crowd pleasing matches. He's still young and developing. Only top guy's he fought, is Judah and Mosley. If Cotto lose before facing PBF, he will still be none as a good fighter. If Gomez give him a good fight, than that could set him up for a lost down the line. Hard fight after hard fight because of what your fans want, could get you a lost soon are later. Winner out of Cintron/Margarito, after that Moyarga or Clottey and Mosley wants a rematch. Cotto is only over rated, when fans try to compare him to Mayweather. They will do that until they fight. When you have two undefeated guy's, you always going to have that. Mayweather has the all around boxing skills, fought longer and better guy's on his record. Yes, both guy's fought guy's past there prime. Show me a sport, where there is not out with the old and in with the new? You cant, so don't answer that question. Cotto is not over rated. You might not like him but his fight speaks for himself. This is about PBF and MGC. I like both guy's

  3. Cotto aint overated at all. he deserves to be at the top spot.

    cotto vs tito - cotto

cotto vs p tito- 50/50 chance

    cotto vs dlh- 50/50 chance

cotto vs p dlh- dlh easy

    cotto vs mosley- cotto

cotto vs p mosley- mosley easy

    cotto vs mayweather- 50/50 chance

    cotto vs hatton-cotto easy

  4. I do NOT think he is overrated.

Cotto vs Trinidad Now- COTTO easily

Prime- Cotto. Really hard to chose a winner.

Cotto vs De La Hoya Now- Cotto has a greater chance, but Oscar can give him a war and maybe even beat him.

    Prime-De la Hoya

Cotto-Mosley now- Cotto ( I will love to see the rematch)

    Prime-Mosley

    Cotto vs Mayweather- Mayweather

Cotto vs Hatton- Cotto easily, giving Hatton the beating of his life.

I use to think he was a little overrated, but after I saw him beating Mosley, i know believe he is one of the best right now. I'd like to see Cotto face Margarito before he faces Mayweather. That will be his last test.

  5. Cotto isn't the greatest, just the latest.  I watch what happened with Corley, how he basically landed a huge groin shot to avoid losing by knockout.  I don't know if Cotto actually wants Mayweather, but  i know his fans do.  There is too much difference in speed for Cotto to have a chance.  But judging by just how many people think he belongs in the ring with Money May, then yes, he is over-rated.  Mind you, he is the next best challenger for Mayweather, but next best is still nowhere good enough to compete.

Cotto Hatton would be a fun one to watch if it happened with English refereeing.  Would probably resemble a cage fight.
