Who thinks I should become a TACP for the U.S. Air Force? It is a good job, and how well is the pay?

Pay in the military is based on rank, not what job you do.

IE: A E-3 cook, makes as much as an E-3 Infantry soldier.

Your base pay is based on rank but TACP get paid special pays and hazardous duty pay and stuff so TACP/CCT/PJ/Combat Weather pay is alot better than other jobs.  Tech school for TACP is about 6 months long and includes SERE training,  I heard its pretty tough and as a graduation march you have to ruck 72 lbs. 12 miles! but they build you up to be able to do that so you don't have to worry about being able to do that now. You also have to learn to use a map and compass and most importantly a radio system. The radio is probably the most important piece of equipment you will have on the battlefield besides your weapon. You also have the opportunity to go to Airborne school and Ranger school as well as many others.

TACP is a rewarding job but can also be dangerous since you will most likely be seeing combat.

You should go see a recruiter also they should be able to tell you a lot and also the Air Force website has a live chat system so you can ask them questions or email them.

I'm about to go under DEP and TACP is the job I want so i've done a lot of research and since my dad is in the Air Force and there are TACPS here at Mcchord AFB I got to hang out with them for a day and learn a few things.
