Who thinks Royalty should be stopped in England?

the royal family is a symbol for england but having royalty seems not practical anymore. It's 2008 people, not the 1900's!

it's like they just on their throne until their *** becomes soar and they lavish themseves a lot using the money the common folks payed as taxes. what do you think?

If it weren't for the Royal Family and their line, there would BE no United Kingdom.  Let me ask you this:  If and when you buy a house and start a family, do you plan to live in an empty house?  Are you going to purchase furniture?  Dishes, Pictures, decorations?  When you die, should all your belongings go to your postal carrier, your butcher, your doctor, your neighbors or your cell phone company?  Did they not contribute to your life?  Ofcourse they did, but I'll wager that you want your house and all your belongings going to your children, and your children's children.  Likewise, with the monarchy!  I mean, do your parents have anything passed down through the family?  Things that you've worked hard to obtain are YOURS until you give them away, correct?

Tell me, what have they done wrong to you? Would your life improve if they were removed ? How would it, and do not tell me they cost so much. Tell me how you and England would benefit in black and white comments and not emotion and I might consider your comment. Other then that....God Save The Queen !!!

I think it is a wonderful tradition and that the queen is a brilliant diplomat.  The country wouldn't be the same without it.  After all they don't do any harm.  They have no major powers and on the grand scheme of things don't really cost us much.

so if you had a choice between george bush or elizabeth II as our head of state you would choose bush im sorry but if this is your opinion then to be honest i would suggest you go and live there they may not have much in the way of power but i would still much prefer to have a royal family than a president

On behalf of the supporters of the British Monarchy, no.  The Monarchy is one of the cornerstones of what Britain is, you take it away and things will fall apart.  The Queen pays more back than she gets, plus the money is mainly to keep up the Crown Estates, as they generate a lot of money for the economy.  Oh, and by the way, it's sore, plus, thrones are rather comfortable.

absolutley we should retain the royal family for their benefit to the economy but mostly because of the tradition and the hard work they do; ok they live in palaces but they carry out engagements and whatever on the basis of more than one per day all year round on behalf of us. What's more they have earned the right to our respect; the Queen's parents King George VI and the late Queen Mother remained in central London during the blitz - don't forget that.

have you noticed how many of the traditions with royalty bring crowds into the country .......................the changing of the guard  a daily thing but still a must see for many tourists   and then they spend money in the country.................

would you really prefer that we had someone like george bush as the only person to be the main focus ....................I don't think so .........................and if the royal family were so bad why did spain reinstate theirs ?          russia in many ways now regrets the killing of the tars' family if they had a figure head like we have things might be more stable .............
