Who thinks a chicken would make a good pet?

Chickens are livestock, but they can be very friendly.  I have several who follow me around the garden, because they know I'll give them bugs if I catch them.

While our birds are used for fresh eggs, breeding chicks and showing, we do have some that have enough personality to make them "pets" as well.  I have a rooster who will follow me around and wait for me at the back kitchen door.  My son has a little bantam hen who he's taught to perch on his shoulder like a parrot.  And their social structure and the interaction they have with the flock is actually pretty interesting to see.  

If you have the room and are allowed to have them, a couple of hens (kept in a coop and given a yard to scratch in) can make great pets, and are very useful as well.

I dont. My next door neighbor has chickens and they are always getting out and ruining my plants.

I do omg what a cool pet...but it would be hard to look after and you would need to make a hut for it for the winter and it would need a pen and grass area so get it if u have a garden...& if you have the money then yeah you wouldnt need to go out and buy eggs lol :) !! but im guessin theyd be hard to look after coz my nan has 4 and they are also not too friendly and hard 2 pick up!
