Who thinks global wariming is a hoax?

I'm confused. Some people say it is not going to affect us for a long time. Some say a really long time. Some say soon. And some say it's all a hoax.

  1. The main thing to consider here is that there will be conflicting views as science is not ready to 'prove' the case.  What we can focus on, is that we are doing a lot of bad things as a society that destroy the natural world.  If the idea of global warming wakes us up to be cleaner, and more energy efficient, then that is great.  If we focus on trying to prove global warming is a solar cycle for example, and not caused by man, then we just miss the chance to get the world working together to fix a real problem.  The argument is usually about the cost of jobs and money to fix the big industry polluting problem.   IF we take that out of the equation, then can anyone think of anything good at all about the destructive practices of modern industry with its toxic emissions, and wasteful use of resources such as energy, and water.

  2. idk how people can deny something that has like a century of proof behind it.

  3. I don't.

    Al doesn't.

    Bush does.

  4. ITS NOT A HOAX! ITS REEEEEAL! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

  5. i say BILDGE

  6. Even if it is a very long time, u don't want that to happen. Try to protest to people who expose smoke into open areas and say it is bad for health and for the environment

  7. Global warming is obviously real. In the past 10,000 years, the glaciers have melted back by 2,000 miles and the oceans have risen hundreds of feet. What was once dry land between Alaska and Asia is now under quite a lot of water.

Al Gore thinks there are enough stupid people who can be tricked into thinking WE are causing this warming cycle that they will support Carbon Taxes and Carbon Offset payments by companies, driving our economy down the tubes. But why? He stands to make a lot of money off this scheme.

  8. I do not beleive it. Al Gore just wants to try to be famous because he didnt get the presidental election and is mad and jealous of bush so he made it up.

  9. If it's a hoax then its a massive worldwide conspiracy. For what reasons would they want to do that? Money? It sounds like the people at the top already have all the money and power they could ever want. Saying it's a hoax really leads you to the realm of the conspiracy theories.

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

  11. Not me.  It's undoubtedly real.  Whether it affects us sooner or later is irrelevant.

Oh boy! here comes Agua-Luna with his lies! Like the "BUILD A HOUSE FOR FREE" one... Then he says that it will only cost $5,000. Then he says that it will cost up to $10,000. I stopped paying him any mind after that... LIES LIES LIES!!! Three lies and YOU'RE OUT!

  12. me

  13. I dont think its real.

Its a big political accessory overused by everyone.

Now, Im not saying we should go crazy and keep living the lifestyle we live because that effects more than just the weather.

You guys probably havent taken any Enviornemntal classes so you dont know about cyclic patterns of the weather.

Thats all it is guys, thats all it is.

Now, Im sure  living the way we do has contributed to harm of the enviornment, and fossil fuels definatly dont help the atmosphere.

But for those who are hardcore about it being real heres a link: http://www.ourcivilisation.com/aginatur/...

  14. It's been overly politicized, and an enormous industry has built up around the idea. So much so that the truth becomes buried under a mountain of agendas and greed.

People who pursue evidence to prop up a theory aren't doing anyone any favors, except for a few rich elites who can afford to pay a bunch of "carbon credit" money to... rich corporatists... like Al Gore's 'credits' going to Waste Management for programs the company had already been working on. Fat lot o' good that did... but it made political bones with a lot of folks.

  15. Its a hoax, were being packed by snow up here in New England, that and sometimes every 10million years the poles change, so what if my grand-kids will never see a dam polar bear or penguin?

  16. Not these guys.  They ALL say it's real:

The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

You can choose to believe them or believe a few "skeptics".  Pretty much a no brainer for me, almost all scientists and most all world leaders.
