I don't know about the rest of the world but in Australia we have The Vietnam Veteran's Motorcycle Club, now don't get me wrong I thing that the Vietnam Vets are an honourable club and I am very proud of who they are and what they did for me, but I recently found out that as long as you were in the armed forces in any way not even been to war, even if you just drove a truck in peacetime you can become a nominee member of the Vietnam Vets and ride around with them wearing a patch on your back, now to me that's wrong! If you weren't in Nam then I dont believe you have the right to be a wannabe, when I see the Vets on the Highway I think great men that fought in a horrible war and I admire them, now it could be some guy that never even went to war, I dont think its right, what do you think?

  1. Of coarse you are right but what you gonna do, I am a disabled vietnam era vet, but I was hurt in Italy!!!, I would never dream of telling people I was in Nam but it is amazing how many people do, h**l a lot of thes jokers were not even in the military. These guys get in the clubs, but usually they get weeded out over time, when a fake starts spinning stories with guys who were actually there, he is usually busted, the ones who are not, I actually feel more sorry for them than I am mad at them.

  2. Imitation is a form of flattery. I get with you're trying to say, but without the truct driver, those soldiers wouldn't be able to focus on anything except to make sure they don't drive into a hole, right?

  3. Not me!

But you need to keep in mind that Vietnam Veterans aren't going to be around forever - their organizations will continuously shrink over the years until none are left. That's why RSLs changed their name and focus over the decades, letting happy young chockos like myself join and mingle with the veterans.

That's fine if they just want to associate with other veterans, but others (like the VVMC) are happy to ride with friends and supporters. The Gippsland Chapter of the VVMC lets non-veterans join as "Supporters" only. Only Vietnam Veteran riders who have proved themselves may wear the snazzy patch.

  4. thats disrespectful for the one's who were the reals ones fighting in the frontlines.

  5. int the us we have the american legion the am vets and the veterans of foreign wars. american legion all you have to do is have been in the military.  in the am vets you had to be at least in the military during a time of war even if not deployed. in the vfw you have to had been deployed and in a war or conflict.  and yes it does p**s me off when people pretend

  6. hey, at least they weren't the crazies over here in America that spit on the Vets coming home from the war. id much rather see those guys with patches than carrying NVA flags.
