Question:

Who thinks that Kyle Busch is winning more races because it seems like he's matured a little?

I think Kyle Busch, besides maybe having something to prove, has matured in the past year. I don't know if maybe Papa Gibbs or his family sat him down and talked to him and it got through, or what. Winning does help, I know, as far as his attitude, but he does'nt seem like such a jerk as he did in the past (although I know he can still act like it - ask Ron Hornaday). Also, had anyone noticed Rowdy has actually been apologizing (who'd have thought - J/k - lol)

Not to mention that Kyle is a talented driver

Btw.....I am not a Kyle Busch fan.

  1. That brash, in your face post race interview Kyle, was never the real Kyle Busch.

He's always been a good guy, I'm glad people are seeing the otherside of him..

  2. Yes I think that he has .

  3. the key word in your question is little. He's still a punk, but yes. He has most definitley matured. Not in the past year. the beginning of this year was worse than ever. But he has matured since...maybe...Darlington. After his win there he just seemed to be so much more pleasant. But the basic idea remains. He still has a lot of people to gain the respect of. I am one of them.

  4. He probably got a strong talking too, because he has calmed down somewhat.

I can't recall him ever apologizing to anyone, I must have missed that, but if he did great for him.

He has some talent and think it is something in the engine department myself.  I would like to see him drive something other than a toyota and see if he can win as much as he had.

  5. What do you expect?  He's only 23 and he's been in cup since he was what, 19?  You can't expect a 19 year old kid to be thrown to the wolves and know how to handle the pressure and the media.  I highly doubt anyone in this forum could do it, I know I couldn't.  People say how great of a personality guys like Mark Martin, Jr, and Jeff Burton have.  Lets not forget these guys have been working at their jobs for years.  I've always said he'd come around and grow up, and he is.  He's not fully there yet, but he will be.

  6. well of course he's matured

    he's barely outta puberty

  7. Nope. He cheats.

  8. well d**n it was either grow up or blow up

  9. ya,

    he is much better now...

  10. I agree, he's getting better. Like when Montoya spun him out he didn't like yell "What the freak was he doing?!" stuff like that. He calmy told NASCAR they need to do something and that he didn't do anything

well he did tick off JPM, so i guess he did do "something" =)

  11. he hasn't matured a little, he's matured a LOT, especially in the last year - at least on the track.  last year i remember him saying many times to his crew chief not to be surprised if he just wadded the car up.  this year, he's been much more careful (i didn't say perfect), and he's really been able to pull off not only "big moves" like the restart saturday night in chicagoland, but also in the little things like "side-sucking" just enough air off jimmie's right side to get him loose, then run up the track to make sure jimmie didn't hit him if he got too loose because of it. as kyle himself said when asked about that particular move, had he tried that last year, more than likely both of them would have ended up in the wall. he's learning.

off the track he's matured some - not as much as on the track maybe, but quite a bit. especially the last few weeks - he's been much more humble and sort of "shocked" and "awed" by his own success. he's seeming more human now, which he has always been, but it's coming across more now in his interviews.

  12. I think it has more to do with the COT than anything else...maturity is a little bit...but unlike many drivers, Kyle Busch loves a loose racecar (or racetruck).

But also---and I think this has a lot more to do with it---notice how Kyle Busch has also gotten the breaks at the nost opportune times (Carl Edwards had a transmission blow up at Atlanta with Kyle Busch running second...late caution at Chicago, along with a tire going down for the #17 while battling Busch for the lead...and the Big One at Daytona under green-white-checkers, also competing against the 99).

No denying the talent, but when it's your year, it's your year...and all the breaks are breaking his way.

  13. Yes, he has matured a lot since last year

He isn't wrecking people that much...

If it was last year he would've wrecked Johnson coming to get get 2 laps to go...But, his maturity has made him more.....I dunno whats the word

But, yes, he has matured which has produced so many wins

  14. Definetely, and Steve Addington has a way of keeping him calm, and telling him not to give up. Kyle is going to go far in this sport. He has a great team behind him, and they all support him unlike what HMS did last season, so he's out to prove something while maturing in the process.

  15. I'm sure that with age and experience, he has matured.  Maybe it is just having another full year under his belt (wasn't last year just his second full year in Sprint Cup?).  Maybe it was having to leave Hendrick.  Maybe it is the influence of new people around him.

An old saying attributable so some unknown team manager is that it is better to have to worry about slowing  driver down than speeding him up.  (A good analogy might be Ayrton Senna in his first couple of years in F1 - you just knew that once he calmed down, he would be incredibly fast, and he was...)
