Question:

Who thinks that a blacked out bus, picking up a load of ill dressed yobs is a good omen for 2012?

Hey!

Is that a preview of what we have to offer?

I was HUGELY embarrassed.

I blushed, thankfully in the privacy of my own home.

Does ANYBODY believe that we can do something that is even a little bit better than that pathetic attempt??

  1. I am sure the "real thing" will please everyone. I was in London when they received the news that they had won the 2012 Olympics. My first thought "Oh No" this will be a disaster. London is so congested and how they will ever cope, I still have my reservations. But, spectaculars are not unknown to Brits, look at Royal Weddings etc. Forget the bus and the "yobs", like all good card players, you save the best for the real thing, don't you.

  2. lol yea i agree

  3. Actually, that part of the ceremony made me cringe too! To me it looked like an outtake from a 1960's Cliff Richard movie.

  4. at least you seem to have some magic indian girl. She seems to be able to disappear and reappear at will! bring on Magic tricks for 2012.

I have faith that London can deliver.

  5. I didn't watch it.  Is the legendary logo of 2012 changed?

  6. Have pride.. I thought it was great.

I love London... I was there for their bid for the Olympics in 2005, as well as in Paris for theirs too.. And London definitely made the better effort. I think London is gonna 'rock it'.

And to the poster above me... you've been to London twice and never saw an enclosed double decker bus?!

I believe only the tourist on-off buses are open-air (as they are here in Hollywood too). The standard transportation buses are enclosed. (And I do believe they only got rid of the OLD doubledeckers.)

  7. The jury is out, not sure about it, but i confess that it must be a hard job for any country to try and do something unique when you see what the Chinese achieved, then again look at the amount of people they have to work with and who did the whole opening, closing ceremony, the director of the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. So to get anything  meaningful in 8 minutes must have been a tough ask.

  8. Their umbrellas were cool.  Chin up.

  9. Do any of you live in London. Wembley 2 years late. The Doomed Dome. Will we still have enough Polish people here to build the stadium. Stadium i've heard they may not be able to build it.

Sorry i hope we can deliver. I hope we every bit as good as China. I still need to be convinced that the Tax payers of this country will not loose out. The Government spending Billions for rich people to sit in seats for 16 days.

  10. Whoever said London can do better than Beijing... VERY COLD JOKES

  11. All I have to say I have never seen a bus like that in London.  I thought London did away with all the red double decker buses.  Also since when were the top portion of those buses covered?
