Who thinks that having Royalty in the UK is totally unfair!?

The Royal Family earned their rank in society today just by being born into the right family, how stupid is that!?

Of course I don't mind politics, especially if the people involved in it aren't related, since you have to work extremely hard to become Prime Minister, but The Queen just became set for life the minute she was born.

Whereas every other single person in the UK (as well as the world) has to suffer the hardships of life and hard work, whilst it is a simple life for The Queen! Your thoughts?

  1. Don't you see the Queen is our insurance, she can dissolve parliament so if we ever had a dictator imposed on us we could ask the Queen to call an election, don't tell me she couldn't she's the head of the army and the head of the church of England. I don't like all the hangers on in the Royal family but we do need someone who is independent to the Politicians with the power to look out for us, leave her alone she's our fail safe.

  2. It's a complete joke.

  3. It doesn't bother me, but then I am an American.   If you are British, it is up to you to decide whether you will continue to have a monarchy or not. I risk getting people upset if I were to say that the royal family is redundant, so I will not offend.

The British monarchy is a tradition.  It should be kept, but maybe it should be "down-sized" to save money much in the same manner that corporations "down-size" to save money.  Maybe the Brits can learn something from the Belgians, the Dutch, or the Danish.

  4. Life is unfair, that's just the way it is.

Following your argument everyone who is better off than someone else in any way should feel guilty.

Not a single person is born in he same situation as anyone else so don't make it sound like I'm the same as you.

  5. Oh stop your complaining. What powers have they, really? Its just money. And a ton of that money is not even possible to be spent frivolously, it's tied up in estates, works of art and what have you - one could hardly just sell off such a thing that has belonged to the family for such an age. And when people think of the Royal Family dining off gilded plates etc, etc, etc, you must remember they DO put on their best show for the visitors, they don't eat that way everyday! And besides, it's not like Her Majesty went out and bought all of that - it belonged to Queen Victoria, for example, or was bought long before Elizabeth's birth.

And she was not exactly born to be Queen. If her uncle, Edward VIII, had not abdicated and had not married That Woman, there would likely have been heirs by a suitable and well brought up lady as his consort - sending Elizabeth farther from the throne in the line of succession.

It seems almost hard to believe, to a lot of subjects and citizens of other countries, but Her Majesty does an incredible amount of work that never really ceases when one thinks about it. Her Majesty has even said herself that in her own case the life and the job go on together as one, while everybody else in life puts down the work and goes home to their families. She has responsibilities that she was, thankfully, brought up, or rather trained, to expect - responsibilities I would NEVER want. No thanks, not me. The extravagance and title, perhaps, but in actuality there is no way I'd ever take that job.

So lay off a little, is that so much to ask? Does HM not bring enough money through tourism, people coming to wander Buckingham Palace and to gawk at her while out and about?

    Cheers!

  6. Well, life in general is unfair. It isn't right that they have all that power just because of birth. It wouldn't be so bad if the queen were a nice person but she is a nasty, haughty, snooty, old bitty. I really detest the way she treated Diana.

  7. she does work you know, shes the head of the church, spreads the glory of britannia around the world on her tours,

Anyway, the children of bill gates are set for life, so should we take all their money away?

  8. well if it's unfair to have royalty in the UK, then don't you think it's also unfair to have royalty in spain, sweden, monaco, japan, etc? the uk isn't the only country with a royal family ( though it sometimes seems so) and as someone living in the US, i can't stand people like you complaining about the royal family. just like every other human being on earth, they were put in their position for a reason. and hon, being ruler of an entire country and then some is hard work! just imagine yourself being boss of wherever you work (if u work) for a day. by the end of that day you'd be tired! she's been a "boss" for almost a 1/2 century, 24/7, 365, no holidays, no lunch breaks. so shut your mouth, you ignorant closed minded person, and pleez stop sippin on the hate-orade!

  9. God, you don't even do bloody research or anything- just pure hate! Her Majesty does a LOT of work and is a credit to the world in which we live.

  10. Life isn't fair, sonny, and it's about time you learnt that.  Some people are born richer than others.  The Queen may have inherited her job, but she works hard at it and, I believe, gives good value for money.

An elected head of state would not be any cheaper, and in fact many countries spend more money on their presidents than we do on our royal family (the Italians pay almost twice as much in taxes to support their president, and who knows what his name is even?  Whereas our Queen is the most famous woman in the world).

And it is somewhat of an exaggeration to say that 'every single person' in the UK apart from the Queen has to suffer the hardships of life and hard work.  There are plenty of other people besides the Queen and the royal family who have inherited wealth, or will do.  How hard do you think J K Rowling's children will ever have to work for instance?  Or Paul McCartney's?

And I don't think the Queen's life is all that simple.  She has a great many ceremonial and constitutional duties to perform, and she performs them very well.  And she is still working at 82, which is more than most people do.  And, however rich, she is subject to all the ills of the flesh, old age, illness, and death, just like the rest of us.  Wealth cannot protect you from everything.  Money couldn't save Linda McCartney from dying of cancer for instance, nor George Harrison either. And she's had her share of emotional troubles as well, I don't suppose the Princess Diana affair was exactly a picnic for her.

Look, you cannot go through life being eaten up with envy of all the people who are richer and more succesful than you are, that way madness lies.  If the Queen wasn't in Buckingham Palace, someone else would be, and chances are it wouldn't be you.  Get over it.

  11. couldn't agree more

and there is a lot of nasty blood ties in that family from incest

i say get rid of it all together and give all the money to charity

  12. Speaking as a Brit,I can only say that dagirl is daman,if that is possible and the person who posted this little message of jealousy should take on board what she has said.As another person has said, you should do some research.Putting something like this up,seemingly without thought, leaves the asker open to the ridicule of every sensible person that answers.

  13. Life is unfair! Just do the best you can and forget about what others have. Good luck.
