Who thinks that racoons are creepy?

I saw a rabid raccoon a few weeks ago.  He was the size of a medium dog, matted nasty hair, foaming at the mouth, and walking sideways.  Absolutely ugliest thing I've every seen.  I agree that raccoons are creepy, and would say that rabid raccoons are a thousand times creepier.

Note to Jim:  In 2000, Raccoons made up 41% of the cases of all wildlife rabies incidents in the U.S.

I don't find any animal creepy, but racoons are a nuisance when they keep raiding the garbage.

I have to agree with Vince on the rabid thing, I saw one recently also and was creeped out. It was in broad daylight. Until then tho I loved them they reminded me of bandits with their coloring. But...I still have the image of the rabid one so I have to go along with there creepy now.

I worked for the MSPCA a few years ago and one of the scariest calls we got was for rabid raccoon removal.  We called it the Triple R.  I don't know where Jim is from, but it is an epidemic on the East Coast.  Raccoons are agressive animals when they are not rabid, and you're better off being afraid of them.  The babies are cute, but be sure there's a mother around somewhere.

Not I.  Only humans can be creepy.  I don't pass on or give animals human characteristic, that's irrational.  Just because something creeps does not mean it is creepy.  

There has only been one raccoon in the last 50 years known to have rabies.  People are more likely to get rabies from their pets or neighbors pets that a raccoon.
