i mean like who can beat them in the playoffs, or in the world series?

If it's the Rays from the AL, they played in interleague play and the Rays swept them.  The Angels and Red Sox did not play them this year.  They stack up similar to the Angels--solid starting pitching a good bullpen and a good closer.  The Red Sox did not play them.  The Red Sox can outslug the Cubs, even with Ramirez on a tear, but the Cubs probably have the better set up men leading to the closer.  The Cubs should get to their first World Series in 63 years, as long as Stephen Bartman is elsewhere that is.

They'll get to the playoffs but they won't win the Series. They haven't done so in 100 years, and everyone's tired of Cub fans saying that this year is the one.

sorry to say, i'm a brewers fan, but i think this IS the Cubs year. nobody except the pitcher is batting less than 280... they have 3 relief pitchers averaging more than 1 strikeout per inning, and 3 more almost there. totally solid starting pitching....

meanwhile Ned Yost is playing a catcher batting 230 something when he has a 300 catcher (Rivera) on the bench, same with center field and 3rd base.

only 4 Brewers in the line-up are batting over 250???

The Brewers can't rely on pitching if they end up losing 1-0

Ricky Weeks is batting 60 points less than Durham, but who plays every day and gives away a game with a throwing error? Ricky Weeks- 2nd base.

Well any team can beat anybody on a given day.

If the Cubs play the D-backs in the playoffs again, I will be scared. Webb has always been somewhat successful against the Cubs. Haren has only one start against the Cubs and won. Johnson has dominated the Cubs his entire career, he even shut them out this year.

And for the people that always say the Cubs will choke again, you really haven't been watching this team. They're different than any other Cubs team I've seen and they won't go down without a fight.

It is the 100 anniversary of the Cubs last winning the World Series and I have a feeling that baseball will see to it that they win the World Series. I believe MLB is really one company rather than 30 companies and that much of what happens is scripted out. Oops. I misread the question. You can dump the question if you want. I for one believe the Cubs will win the World Series I'm in the wrong question.

I think the Cubs can and will go all the way this year: they have a great lineup, especially when you have a guy like Soriano leading off. They have a great bullpen (see Howry, Marmol, Wood, and even Jeff Samardijza), a great starting rotation (Zambrano, Harden, Dempster). However, anyone can beat someone on any given day. See its not always the best team that goes to the World Series, but who is hot at the time the playoffs start (2007 Colorado Rockies), but I do think they got a better shot than anyone else in the NL.

Well the Phillies were beating them. All the Cubs fans said that last year was the year but it wasn't. Now the Cubs fans said that this is the year.
