  1. How could you possibly think the Pittsburgh Pirates are one of the worst baseball teams?!?!? Just because we are a small market team, play in a VERY competitive division year in and year out (hats off to the Cubs, Cards, Brewers, Astros, and Reds), and have had 15 consecutive losing seasons, DOESN'T MEAN WE ARE A BAD TEAM.

If you know anything about baseball, you would understand that a franchise isn't just based on how they are performing in the present time. We (the Pirates) have one of the greatest histories in all of baseball and have accomplished some things other teams have never come close to.

I will name a few for you:

The Pirates were the first MLB franchise to have their games broadcast over the radio.

The Pirates were the FIRST MLB team to have an ALL BLACK lineup take the field.

The Pirates are the only team to win Game 7 of the World Series on a walk off home run.

h**l, the Pirtaes have won 9,670 games as a franchise!! That is 7th all time and is more than BOTH the Yankees and the Red Sox.

I'm not going to keep ranting, but I also want to point out the Pirates have won 5 World Series titles. There are some teams who have winning records this year who haven't even PLAYED in the World Series. There are also prestigious franchises who haven't even won 5 World Titles.

So come on now, think about it, you can't call the Pirates one of the worst baseball teams without reason.

Just because they have a trend of losing over the past 15 years doesn't mean they are bad. Every team goes through a stretch like that in their history. It's just a matter of when.

  2. are you kidding they are doing better than the YANKEES

  3. Not even close.  The Pirates have some good young players, Nate McLouth is a stud.  There are far worse teams in baseball other then the Pirates, like say the entire NL West.  Put the Pirates in that division and I think they take the division.

Jason, a year ago they traded Aramis Ramirez, LOL.  Ramirez has been with the Cubs for 5 years already.

  4. Me

  5. I agree that they have several fine youngsters, now they need to avoid trading them away! I'm just glad they are in the same division as my REDS and keeps us out of the cellar.

  6. i do.

  7. I don't. I think if their owner would leave the team alone and stop trading players away then they will be good eventually. Remember a year ago or so they traded away Armas Rameriez and a whole lot more. They still have Sanchez, Bay, Wilson, and Nady.
