Okay. So i am a full on Yankees fan and I'm incredibly happy that Manny got traded but from a strategic point of view I'm not quite sure if it was a smart move for the sox to trade him...or if it was even a fair trade...i don't know much about the guy they traded him for but do you think it was fair?

so what I'm asking is....

What do you think of the entire decision?

  1. Manny screwed over the Red Sox, just like the Indians, and he will somehow s***w over the Dodgers if given the opportunity. They got someone I don't know, who has yet to prove himself in the AL, but that is better than 2 draft picks or whatever. The real winner in this is the Yankees. Every year around the trade deadline was Manny wants to be traded time, but this year he went too far. That's obviously the kind of person he is, even though he was paid many millions by the Sox and won two rings. The Sox had to get rid of him, but he is now just as cursed as A-rod.

  2. well, they needed him to be productive. over the past few games, he's absolutely screwed them over intentionally, which is obviously not helping. i think they needed him when he was willing to play, or at least be part of the team. it was known that he would make their lives miserable if they didn't trade him. therefore, they had no choice. i do believe that they've been losing lately mainly due to his stupid antics. at this point, they're better off without him. as much as i wanted them to resolve their issues and work through it, he crossed the line with me after those remarks about the SOx not deserving him. that's right. they don't deserve him. they deserve a thousand times better. and yeah, i'm also ticked that moss and hansen had to go. hansen had major room for improvement that i was anxious to see, and moss... well, i loved him from the start. i'm sad to see many cause such an upheaval, especially when he's only going to cause even more trouble as he gets older. good luck, dodgers. he's your headache now.

  3. it was smart for the sox because manny didnt like boston and felt he neeeded another team so he will be happyier

  4. if they didnt trade him they wouldnt have picked up his option at the end of the year and would receive two draft picks for him...what would you rather have two draft picks or Jason Bay

  5. Mgt sold him out just like they did nomar, pedro, and damon.  John Henry and Co are the scumbags.

The fans will turn on manny just like they did the others.  I wish the best to manny.

  6. Well im going to miss the Happy Manny but in a way i'm glad hes out of Boston. He took a few low blows at Red Sox management and I really do not know what the deal was between them but hey its over. We move on now with Jason Bay who is a pretty good player. Now parting with Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen was what made me tick. And they are also paying $7 million for him to play for the Dodgers. They really just got him for free in a way. Now hopefully the same thing happens to Manny as what happend to Nomor and Pedro..and possibly Damon (who went from GOD in center field at the Fen to a nobody at Yankee Stadium) =]

  7. definitely not a fare trade for sure and definitely good for the yankees. manny's like the most clutch hitter in the past decade and it seemed like it was always against the yanks. but the sox kinda had no choice because of what he was saying. i think they should have at least added a relief pitcher because their bullpen is their weakness. Bay is a good hitter who had a very disappointing year last year but regained his form this year....manny is a hall of famer who probably has 4-5 years left in his tank.

  8. Horrible.

    We needed him.

It was stupid of him to leave, and the trade was really bad.

    yucky.

  9. it wasnt about smart...manny forced  the issue by becoming too big a distraction for the team (even by manny standards!).  mgmnt had to...but i am pretty sure we are going to miss him a lot....and i dont think it was a fair trade but again...seems like we had to do it!  ugh!

  10. Dodgers gain Red sox lose in more ways than one

  11. To be honest....the situation SUCKS because Manny is irreplaceable but so are the bridges he burned in Boston....I am going to miss him but it is time to move on. You being a Yankee fan should be pumped because that is probably where he is going to end up next season....they got the money to pay him, plus, that is where Manny grew up. Geez....the more I think about it....the more it sickens me.....I hope he doesn't end up dawning pinstripes next season.

  12. Lifelong Red Sox fan, Longtime Manny fan. I guess that the Manny sideshow had become too much of a distraction and he had to go.  Now we can go on with the business of winning championships.
