I surf alot and I mean alot and my boyfriend and I always go out at dawn one to watch the sunrise but where I live in Aussie the surf is amazing at dawn and I love it! I think it is definitely the best time to go surfing and not many people are out then so that makes things even better! You hit the nail on the target mate definitely the best time to surf.

Some places are better at dawn because there is no wind(yet you still have to deal with the tide). Huntington beach is like that. Glassy in the morning, windy the rest of the day.

Other places, such as islands, do not have friendly winds until mid-morning/early afternoon.

And yet, with other places, it is more of a strategy to avoid crowds. Trestles is really crowded at dawn with a lot of people surfing before work or school. Sometimes it is best to surf there around 8:30 or 9:00.

h**l yah dawn patrol, like the butt crack of dawn, usually never any wind and its the glassiest time of the day and barely anyone is up that early
