They traded Texiera because they "didnt have enough money" but their highest paid player is Mike Hampton who constantly gets injured..... Hampton should be traded if anybody......anybody agree?

  1. Lets please not discuss Mike Hampton.  that man doesn't deserve to wear a Braves jersey.  I think the deal makes sense for both teams, given the circumstances surrounding each team at the present time.  Hopefully the Braves will benefit long term and the Angels can capitalize this season.  What's wrong with a deal that works out well for everybody.  I'm gonna miss Tex though, no matter which way u look at it.

  2. Who would want Hampton?  The Braves have lost 25 or 26 games by 1 run & if, & I know if is a big word, but if the Braves would have won half of them, they would be in first place. I still think the Braves have an outside shot at division & hope you Braves fans keep the faith in your team

  3. i think you got a good deal with kotchman though!!

he's a solid player! defense (2 errors so far this season), clutch hitter, patient at the plate, good against lefties etc

i'll be checkin on your braves more often now :)

i agree mike hampton is not helping your club at all

maybe as soon as he's off the DL y'all can think of something

  4. Going to be hard to trade him since he is on the DL.  So they went with their next option.

  5. Just have faith, Braves fans ... remember ...this is the FINAL year of Hampton's contract (no WAY do they pick up his 2009 option). So when the Braves say they didn't have enough money? It sure isn't because of Hampton's contract. They aren't doing badly at all - except they really need a closer.

  6. I dunno how Kotchman will be. At first, I was really, really bummed about getting him, but after I heard the GM speak and others talk about him, I have a little more faith. Fact is that Tex already turned down a massive contract that the Braves offered him in Spring Training, so we knew we couldn't keep him. Hopefully Kotchman will pan out and be our 1B of the future (seems what we want to use him as). He won't beat Tex. Nobody can, but he may be the next best thing. Who knows? Tex only has 2 errors and makes so many unbelievable plays, plus he could end up being one of the best switch hitters of all time. I just think the Angels should have thrown in one more player beyond the two that they did.

Ironically enough right now, Hampton is healthier than most of our team...what does that say about our season?

  7. well, unfortunately the braves have no chance of getting anyone to take hampton

  8. Since the Braves are pretty much out of contention, the Braves wanted to get younger and start from scratch. Don't doubt Kotchman, he's a clutch hitter and plays good defense.

  9. The Braves didn't mess up badly, they got a good player that hasn't even reached his prime. It pains me Kotchman is gone, especially if Texiera leaves at the end of the season for free agency. This is an excellent trade for both clubs, because after all, the Angels are loaded with talent in their minor league system. Texiera will help for the rest of the season, hopefully to get by Boston.

  10. If there was anyone with even a remote interest in hampton the Braves would have given him away for free. I think the Braves made the right move here.. they are out of the race and they got younger. Kotchman looks to be a great pickup.

  11. I agree that they are messing up. Trading Hampton is a great idea...only problem is who would ever think of taking him?
