its a 97 yamaha warrior 350 i got this quad 3 mo ago. i don't really have a history on it. i took it for a day, test drove it, and it ran great. well aside from us having to jump it cause it had a bad battery. seemed like a good bike. i got a new battery and the next day i went for a ride on a rough mountain trail. (very low speeds and lots of climbing). the battery went dead, even though voltage read good (12 v). but with a load it drops (3 v). i figured it could be a bad battery, it sometimes happens. the store traded it out no problems. i put the new battery in and all was well. i took the bike for short rides around the neighborhood and a few long rides on the nearby trails. still no problem. then everyone decided to go back to the first trail we took when my battery died the first time. once again the battery died with all the same symptoms. i took the battery back once again and they replaced it, but said they would not warranty it again because they believed something was wrong with the quad. now i have this third battery and if there is something wrong with the bike i don't want to ruin it as well. so my question is how can i be sure it wont do it again? what tests can i run to be certain before hooking up the new battery? i don't want to be out the money of the battery now that there is no warranty.

  1. I believe the voltage regulator is defective and pulling down the battery. Or your generator/alternator is either shorting out your battery, or not charging at all.
