  1. No, because the little parasites on Cloverfield do not look ANYTHING like that. At least watch the movie before you post questions like this.

  2. Not a hoax.

It can be identified, rather easily. It's a bloated, partially decomposed raccoon. The "hooked beak" is the exposed premaxillary bone. Look at a good picture and you can see the empty tooth sockets in the upper jaw. The news coverage of this has been an absolute circus. I saw it on CNN where they were showing the first photo of it to people on the street. As if Joe Clueless could identify it. Mysteriously, the reporters failed to consult a zoologist.

It's a Raccoon and you can go here for an excellent break down of the identifying markers and a comparison of the carcass to a raccoon. You can also see a second photo taken of the animal that makes its true identity a lot more obvious.

  3. I completely agree with you because if you look closely the monster looks similar to the big monster that terrorizes NYC in the first one, only smaller. And on 1-18-08.com there's a picture of one of the creatures dead, so who's to say there isn't more than one?

If this isn't Cloverfield advertising I will be sincerely shocked.

EDIT: I did do some research on the Montauk Monster and I watched Cloverfield again to see and unless they've  changed what the monster looks like or this is just a baby one, I'm doubting it has anything to do with Cloverfield, although that would be FANTASTIC if it did. =]
