I would like some suggestions as to who I could contact to possibly instigate the removal of hundreds of phone books that where dumped in to a stream/river near my neighborhood, in the forest behind it.

They nearly completely clog up the ten foot or so river, since they are combined with so much other trash.. Who could help?

  1. Your police force, contact those people who clean up rivers. Good Luck with this and God Bless. Don't give up.

  2. epa

  3. maybe the phone company.

they probably paid someone to deliver them.

    after paying to print them.

i suspect they'll be pretty unhappy to hear they got dumped.

a reasonable question would be,  can they track who had that shipment?

and i don't know the answer.

    but that's where i'd start.

  4. It depends on where you are.

Municipal authorities are first; township/county offices.

Whoever collects the garbage, or manages re-cycling

Next, go to environmental or natural resources department.

Ultimately, the Boy Scouts might salvage them & restore it.

When our Scout troup delivered phone books once,

we asked people for their old ones in exchange.

We got half back, & made more money from a paper dealer.

  5. contact the media get them out there to make a story of it,also the phone company they pay people to deliver these books they wont be happy about this and the bad publicity in the media you start. Also try the local fish and wildlife officer or Ministry of Natural Resources (Ontario),also you local By law enforcement officer on illegal dumping, just a few thoughts to get the ball rolling

  6. The DEA since its an environmental issue. Also your local news station to run the story.
