Question:

Who to contact when wrongfully terminated?

My teamleader of about 3 months was always telling me how well a job I was doing, even sending me emails that stated such. One week, my tml and I had a disagreement, she called me into our managers office who took her side right away. The following week, I was terminated stating poor performance. How is this so when I was never talked to about poor performance and my teamleader always told me my performance was good verbally and written. Is there anything I can do or anyone I can contact. Please help. I was with this company over 8 years and really liked it there.

  1. Look at the terms of your employment contract.

If you had no contract, and worked in an at-will employment state, there's really nothing you can do. Employment is not a right.

  2. You have a case, it is wrong full termination indeed. Gather up all the Email sent to you from your team leader and or written performance reports and hire an attorney. Companies now a days are trying hard to find every little discrepancy to pick on just so they can get rid of people like yourself and save a buck. Don't forget that you have seniority at your job and can use that as leverage.

    Good Luck.

  3. Not really. Usually the management has the last say.
