I am in a private league and have the 3rd overall pick i know that Ladanian is going 1 and Peterson 2. Who should i take 3rd? It is not a PPR league and gives 6 points for TD's, 1 point per 50 yards for QB's 1 point per 20 for RB's and the same for WR's. I am leaning in the direction of Steven Jackson.

  1. I can tell you do well in fant. fb!  S.Jax would definately be my pick too!  He will not platoon w/ anyone, he will score all their running TDs and will catch @ 90 passes.  He has a chance to score 20 TDs this year.  Good Luck!

  2. You are leaning the right way based on your scoring system. I like Westbrook and Addai in standard formats but Jackson seems like the most consistent option for your format. I can see him with lots of 100 yard games (5 pts) with maybe 20 yards receiving (1 pt) where I see Westbrook with these type numbers 60-70 yards (3 pts) and 40-50 yards receiving (2 pts). Both excellent totals but Jackson should be somewhere around 1 point per game better in that format and he will easily out TD Westbrook. I like Addai also but too many offensive options there and consistency will be a problem. Stick with your 1st instinct and take Jackson, I figure him to be an 11-12 point per game and Westbrook/Addai at 10-11.

  3. most likely get s.jackson

    also consider westbrook though

  4. B.Westbrook,or J.Addai....(Check out my source.)

    ~G{}{}d Luck!~

  5. You really can't go wrong with Addai, Westbrook or Jackson.

The Yahoo! experts, when their rankings come together, choose Jackson as a consensus number 3, then Westbrook, and then Addai.

Personally, I prefer Westbrook. Here's why.

Westbrook had the second most points of all backs last year.  With your scoring, he would have had 177 points last year: 2100 all purpose yards and 12 touchdowns.  I would expect similar numbers this year, maybe 100 fewer yards, but no fewer touchdowns.  No less than 171 points.

Addai came in at 4th most points last year. He might lose a little bit of work this year to Dominic Rhodes, as that's the plan.  With your scoring, the 1400 yards and 15 touchdowns he got last season would get you 160 points.  I wouldn't expect more than this, probably fewer touchdowns and a few more yards.

Jackson came in 14th last year.  But he had injuries on offense, and was injured himself.  In 2007, he had about 1300 yards and 6 touchdowns.  In 2006, an awesome 2300 yards and 16 touchdowns.  I think he will do better than last year, but not as well as 2006, when he had a younger offense.  Barring injures, I could see 1800 total yards and 11 touchdowns, (the average of the two season) though a lot rides on injuries.  This gives you 156 points. This is still below Westbrook's and Addai's projections.

It all comes down to personal preference, as these are point-wise for you, quite similar backs.  but I would choose Westbrook, then Jackson, and then Addai.  Westbrook is the most consistent, with back-to-back great seasons; Jackson has the most upside in his offense for the season; and Addai will have a good year, but with a ceiling, and could be "rested" to keep him 'fresh" for the playoffs.  Watch out for week 16!  He might play for ten minutes and sit the rest of the game...which could lose you a championship.

I always love picking overachievers on non-playoff teams.  Go Westbrook!

Keep in mind you could get lucky, and some fool might take Brady at number 1 or 2.  In that case, choose whoever got left behind...Tomlinson or Peterson.

  6. Defintly B-West he is the most versitle back in the league and can is very close to LT if you ask me he is better than AP.

He is the best possible pick at 3.

  7. westbrook or addai... I'd take westbrook
