I too think that it's Ajantha Mendis! He got 8 wickets in his debut test in Colombo against India and he got 10 wickets in the 2nd test match of the same series.On the whole he has got 18 wickets in just 2 test matches....The series isn't over, so his total no. of wickets in his first series is yet to be seen!

EDIT - Yes Gowtham is right! It's Narendra Hirani of India who took 16 wickets in his debut match and 8 wickets in his second test match! He took 24 wickets in his first 2 matches, against West Indies!

It is Narendra Hirwani.  I can't find a specific reference to say he has the record, but the first two links below show how he got his 24 wickets in first two tests. In fairness he probably had a much more favorable pitch than Mendis but then one can never really compare two bowlers of different generations directly.  Those were tough times for legspinners.

The third link shows that Hirwani has the first test record, I can't find one for first two tests. In my mind I don't doubt that Mendis will surpass Hirwani and probably many others over time given his current demonstration of skill.  But only time will tell.

i think it has to be the golden arm boy, Ajantha Mendis, i'm a fan of his carrom delivery , how does he do it , all his deliveries are very legitimate and very fair except he has a trick of fingers, but his action is very clean !
