A video of a GT car race, http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2008/07/30/video-lap-of-the-valencia-f1-street-circuit/

Looks well good to me

Is it a belated replacement for Adelaide?

  1. Looking at the extrordinarily long roads entering sudden turns, I can see a lot of overtaking happening.

Still looks great, don't get me wrong.

I just want to see it from a better angle asap!

  2. If only they'd painted the kerbs the same as in Adelaide!!! It looks really great... especially if the weather's good... it does look a bit barren in the clip but they'll have spruced it up with all the billboards and placards and such for the grand prix...

The track itself does remind me most of Adelaide, mainly because of the open spaces combined with the claustrophobic nature of all street circuits... I suspect Lewis will be excited about it... as should Alonso and Kubica...

  3. That looks one tight street circuit. It will be interesting to see how much overtaking is possible for an F1 car around that. I can see quite a few big crashes on there to, very much like the champions wall at Montreal.

  4. God work Mr G.

It looks like a really good circuit........ how good, we will see. It did look smooth however.

I'm not sure if I would be the man to wrestle an F1 car some of those bends however !!

  5. Thanks for the links, really insightful!

As said Birdie said, this looks very tight which is unusual for new F1 circuits. It is very reminiscent of Adelaide/Detroit in terms of long straights followed by 90 degree bends and sharp corners. I think this will promote overtaking, but with the width of the track as it is and the close unforgiving barriers will the drivers be taking the risk? I'm quite happy really that they have kept the risky street circuit aspect by bringing the walls forward to the track. It is unlikely though that the barriers are as ferocious as the brick walls you'll find in America or the armcos of Monaco. They are probably extremely safe self-crumbling walls.

Unlike the street circuits we are used to, this is brand new and treated with the latest tarmac. It doesn't have diesel and dirt laid all over it like the rest of them as it hasn't been used by the general public to any extent yet. This means it will offer quite a lot of grip as you would expect to find on a modern circuit.

I personally think its got McLaren written all over it. Lets see anyway and lets hope for some great racing!

  6. Nice! Can't wait to see how it will look like from an F1 driver's point of view.

  7. .

It ain't BIG and it ain't clever, but  my first thoughts are that it will suit McLaren more than Ferrari and BMW are gonna make an impact too.

I would like to see a Hamilton/Kubica battle royale!!

First time I've viewed it, let's hope the next driver's we see can drive...ha ha ha....as if I could do better..it's easy from a hammock!!!!

    Thx Julian.

EDIT: Good one Jenk, you were putting ink to my thoughts as we write

    .

  8. DC will do good here. He has good reflexes and quick reactions.

  9. thank you so much!

I have been waiting for this race as much as I have been waiting for Spa

    sweeeeetttt

EDIT: I agree with Birdie, this is a tight one, it almost looks too tight, and it looks like there is some room left to make the track wider, so maybe they will change it. The First lap will be wicked.

EDIT #2: I found a breakdown of the track on F1 Live: http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/ne...

25 five turns and no Traction control, hmmmm

    I found two more videos

#1: a good look at the track (offboard camera)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P29gbyKKx...

#2:Better onboard look at the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAzqDuWNa...

    No Prob
