News today says Toyota will build "plug in" vehicle by 2010. My question is "WHY"???? The current vehicle is better because it does not need to be plugged in.... it recharges it's own batteries.......is this the plan for the "privitized monopolies" to continue to get money from consumers, even though the current product is better, which requires no plug-in?

  1. I do!

Plug-ins can get 100+ mpg.  You have to recharge the battery from the power grid, but electricity only costs like 12 cents per kilawatt hour.  It will cost less than $1 to recharge a plug-in after 40 miles.  That's equivalent to the refueling cost of a 160 mpg gas car with gas prices at $4/gallon!

Not to mention the environmental benefits of plug-in hybrids:

Who cares about the electric companies?  Everyone should want a plug-in hybrid.

  2. actually plugin vehicles are better for the environment and cheaper to refill. It also allows the end user to decide what type of electricity to put in, meaning whether its home generated electricity from a solar array or wind turbine, green electricity bought from a municipality or dirty coal electricity.

Even if it is dirty coal, when you add everything up its still better for the environment.

  3. because it is good 4 the envirement! u can make electricity using wind or solar energy, and using the electricity they can charge the car. personally i think they should use hydrogen cars, because if u put electricity threw water u get hydrogen and oxygen, use hydrogen 4 cars, and release the oxygen in the atmosphere, reversing global warming
