why was christianity originally seen as part Judaism? How did it become separate?

  1. Because way back when, judaism was the only religion. Some different groups of people decided to "modify" the beliefs and named the 2nd religion ever christanity.

  3. Christian scriptures contain the Old testament, which is recognized by Jews as authoritative. Christianity is separate from Judaism because Christians recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah and accept the New Testament as scriptural, whereas the Jews are still looking forward to the coming of their Messiah.

  4. because jesus was a jew and for millions of years there was no new testament just an old testament and everyone agreed then when the new testament came along jews didn't believe it and christians did.

  5. the romans had their own religion which they protecred. they regarded the christian religion as a threat.

  6. Yes, Christianity was a "sect" of Judaism. Jesus was a Jew. I refer to the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Most of the writings at that time have disappeared due to inability to preserve the written word.

    Christianity became separate, in my opinion, as time went on & the Jews were unable to accept Jesus as the "Messiah" sent by God.  Early Christians celebrated the Jewish holidays like their peers.
