Who was Australias greatest long distance runner,Phar lap or Makybe diva?

Only one of them has won 3 Melbourne Cups - it has to go to Makybe Diva... although you'd love to think that it would be Phar Lap for sentimentality.

Tough call! But on sentimental's sake I'll give it to Phar Lap... what a horse! Not to take anything away from Makybe Diva... just an aside, I have never known how to actually pronounce Makybe... and what does that mean? I have ALWAYS wondered those 2 things, LOL!

Someone on TV commissioned a comparison of all the cup winners before the last cup was run. Their computer simulation gave it to Makybe Diva.

Anyone who has seen Phar Lap's heart in the Australian National Museum in Canberra must feel some sympathy for Phar Lap though.
