  1. It was named after the bloodhound in the picture on the Jackson's (owners of Barbaro) wall. They thought it would be a cool name for their horse!!

  2. There was a famous explorer who was named Barbaro something, supposedly he always made good time on his explorations.  So I guess that was why he was named after this Barbaro person.  Not a bad name for a horse.  I will miss Barbaro and hopefully he feels pain no longer.

  3. what ever he was named after is nothing like what comes to mind when I hear his name HEART as big as big  can be I felt like crying when I saw him pull up that awful day

  4. He was named after a dog.

  5. He was named after a fox hound just like his siblings and he is to have another full sibling in may

  6. Barbaro means barbarian in Italian and other romance languages. Specifically, he was named after a foxhound named Barbaro in a painting the Jacksons own.

Barbaro's brother, Nicanor, was also named after a foxhound in the same painting. Nicanor was one of Alexander the Great's generals. The Jacksons have a great knack for naming their horses with cool historical names.

    Bob

  7. The owners of the horse have this very famous painting with a bunch of fox-hounds on it. Now each of the dogs have a name and the very first one on the right was named Barbaro. So they named him Barbaro.

Now Barbaro has a full baby brother also, now they also named him after a fox-hound in the painting and the dog they named it after is the one standing/sitting right next to the dog Barbaro was named after. And that name is Nicanor.
