Who was Jesus, if Jesus really lived?

What do Christians think of the theory that Jesus was nothing more than an ordinary mortal man with no special powers, and not the son of any gods. That the missing years of his life were spent in India learning the Hindu faith and that he returned to the Middle East with these new (to the Middle East) ideas. Upon his return he spread the teachings of the Vedas and people began to take note and listened.

Not comfortable with the idea of multiple gods, Judaism and Hinduism were combined and modified to suit their own tastes creating Christianity. For example, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva (The trimurti) to Christians became known as the father, son and holy ghost (the trinity).

  1. That article makes no sense for one because why would Jesus teach people one way to live and then go and preach another way?  Also where is the incident of him on the cross?  This incident is a known historical Fact.  Most historians accept the fact that there was a man named  Jesus who was from Nazareth, he cured many diseases and ailnesses, he was hung on a cross during the reign of Tiberius Caesar, ordered under Pontious Pilate, that he died, and was buried in Jerusalem, and that afterwards his desciples claimed to have seen him risen after 3 days.  These are events most scholars admit to be historical fact.  There is no historical evidence for Jesus surviving the cross and being taken to Japan, India wherever.  There's another made up story about Jesus surving the cross, allowing himself to be wrapped for the tomb, was taken out the tomb later by his desciples, and then traveled to Japan.  These stories are just rediculous.

For one nobody could survive the wounds Jesus had.  He had holes in both his hands and feet, a hole through his side that most scholars say pierced his heart, he had the wounds from being scourged earlier, and the scent of the frankencence and myyrh while in the burial clothes would take anyones breath away from their potency.

  3. I think SOMEONE has a very healthy imagination but really needs a history lesson...

  4. Jesus lived in heaven as a spirit person before he came to earth. He was God’s first creation, and so he is called the “firstborn” Son of God. (Colossians 1:15; Revelation 3:14) Jesus is the only Son that God created by himself. Jehovah used the prehuman Jesus as his “master worker” in creating all other things in heaven and on earth. (Proverbs 8:22-31; Colossians 1:16, 17) God also used him as His chief spokesman. That is why Jesus is called “the Word.”—John 1:1-3; Revelation 19:13.

    2. God sent His Son to the earth by transferring his life to the womb of Mary. So Jesus did not have a human father. That is why he did not inherit any sin or imperfection. God sent Jesus to earth for three reasons: (1) To teach us the truth about God (John 18:37), (2) to maintain perfect integrity, providing a model for us to follow (1 Peter 2:21), and (3) to sacrifice his life to set us free from sin and death. Why was this needed?—Matthew 20:28.

    3. By disobeying God’s command, the first man, Adam, committed what the Bible calls “sin.” So God sentenced him to death. (Genesis 3:17-19) He no longer measured up to God’s standards, so he was not perfect anymore. Slowly he grew old and died. Adam passed on sin to all his children. That is why we also grow old, get sick, and die. How could mankind be saved?—Romans 3:23; 5:12.

    4. Jesus was a perfect human just like Adam. Unlike Adam, though, Jesus was perfectly obedient to God under even the greatest test. He could therefore sacrifice his perfect human life to pay for Adam’s sin. This is what the Bible refers to as the “ransom.” Adam’s children could thus be released from condemnation to death. All who put their faith in Jesus can have their sins forgiven and receive everlasting life.—1 Timothy 2:5, 6; John 3:16; Romans 5:18, 19.

    5. When on earth Jesus cured the sick, fed the hungry, and calmed storms. He even raised the dead. Why did he perform miracles? (1) He felt pity for people who were suffering, and he wanted to help them. (2) His miracles proved that he was God’s Son. (3) They showed what he will do for obedient mankind when he rules as King over the earth.—Matthew 14:14; Mark 2:10-12; John 5:28, 29.

    6. Jesus died and was resurrected by God as a spirit creature, and he returned to heaven. (1 Peter 3:18) Since then, God has made him a King. Soon Jesus will remove all wickedness and suffering from this earth.—Psalm 37:9-11; Proverbs 2:21, 22.

  5. Even in this century, there are many who claim to be God or Gods chosen one. I have heard many people make claims about miracles from his/her God, but I've yet to see any evidence that anything supernatural has ever happened on this planet. All of the God concepts are the same as previous God concepts. Now, with information becoming available to so many, religion is fading faster than Bush's approval rating. So no, I don't even think there was one person named, Jesus/horus/mithra, Krishna, John Smith, Attis, Ra, Dionsysis, Buddha, Ron Hubbard, Jim Jones, Koresh....

  6. THese claims are moronic. No historian will debate that Jesus was a real man. And your swishing religions together only shows your ignorance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2njgE049r...

  7. Most Christians are not even familiar with these variants of faith most commonly associated with Punjab and elsewhere in NW India.  I am sure most would dismiss them--the idea that Jesus was removed from the cross in particular would be contrary to Christian belief.  Also, there is no reliable historical evidence of any of this.

The idea that Judaism and Hinduism were molded into one religion is based on a number of incorrect assumptions.   many early Christians, if not a full plethora, did not consider Christ to be divine, but just a man.  Take for instance the monophysite church of Ethiopia.  The concept of the trinity gained credence over 500 years after Christ.  In fact, early Christians held more in common later with Islam than with the Nicean Church.

Jesus of Nazareth definitely existed--and I say that as a professional historian.  He was most likely a progressive rabbi, it is highly likely that he traveled extensively (travel was very common in the eastern regions of the Roman empire thanks to their roads and due to political boundaries) but not eastward, and there is speculation that he was married.  Also, Jesus's teachings were uncompatable with the teachings of Krishna.

  8. Just because someone is named jesus or anything else does not make them a god, because there has never been any evidence that any deity (god) ever existed. Now free up your mind and read all kinds of  great books and enjoy this fabulous universe and all it's beauty and stop thinking about some mythological character that does not exist.

  9. I don't think of that theory. I know Jesus is the son of God and is God. and there is the father God and the son God and the spirit God. Very comfortable with that. That's what i think.

  10. O my, what space!!!

  11. not comfortable with multiple gods?  im uncomfortable with your use of the word 'theory'...get a dictionary and look up the meaning!  So many similarities between the many and various beliefs on this planet. Could it be that they all stole from each other?  Too many coicidences and correlations to ignore that it could be the case. Good stories though, all of em.

Jesus?  A guy that was interested in people, politics, power, and seeing the world he may, or may not have lived in.

  12. Jesus is a thoughtform created by evil spirits/entities and occult adepts on Earth. To distract humanity from the fact that we too can have spiritual power, and keep all mind power in the hands of the "chosen" few to the detriment of all.

  13. Jesus was a Jew, that we can be sure of. There is no reason to believe he ever travel-ed to India. The teachings of Jesus were not at all compatible with that of Hinduism. Most likely he was just teaching a reformed version of Judaism and after his death it was changed and repackaged to appease the non-Jewish followers(Gentiles).    +?+

  14. repeat after me, "Flee Satan in the Name of Jesus".

This is what the bible tell's us to say when we want to get satan away from us. Satan is definitely on you, right now.

  15. What do you THINK Christians think of that.

  16. There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!

Outside of the bible he is not mentioned in anything until many years after his supposed death!!

The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!!   He also organized Christianity into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!!  Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely Italian!!

What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Christian enemies - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!!!

  17. I think that the Jesus character was just a man that did not travel anywhere special...

Back then, you were born, lived, and died usually in the same town. To get to India would have taken quite a lot of resources, and I don't think Mr. Carpenter/Preacher had that kind of money.

  18. Works for me!  But then again, I ain't necessarily a Jesus Freak

  19. Firstly, Jesus of the bible is not a real person, just a composite character  made up of various things about others person to make his character.  The story does not say that he traveled to India, and not being real he could not have done that.

  20. nah jesus is the son of god sorry!! atheist learning for dummies once again...
