  1. a very nice lil sprinter owned by Harry Aleo and trained by Greg Gilchrist of Northern Calif who also trained Brown Bess a champion grass mare...won the first 10 starts of his career then lost his 11th, the breeders cup sprint, off those efforts was named eclipse sprinter of the year...came back in the spring and won his 4 year old debut, then lost his next outing...was found to have cancer, was terminal (quietly euthanized before he suffered too much)...early in his career it was rumored that Aleo had been offered over 2 million for Lost but turned it down...Aleo had had lots of horses, but never a champion...he finally got his...Golden Gate fields, his home track (minutes from my home)gave out bobble head dolls of Lost in the Fog...I have it on my counter

  2. developed cancer and was put down. Good article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_in_the...

  3. lost in the fog was a thoroughbred horse that had cancer and the vets tried to save him, but could not. he was a young horse and was only  3 or 4  years old i believe when he was euthanized. i think the cancer had spread to some of his major organs and he may have been in pain so the vets did what they had to do and the put him down. hes no longer in pain and i believe he was also undefeated in his short career. he was very beautiful just  like barbaro

  4. He was a great sprinter ridden by the legendary Russell Baze from NoCal.  He was the Breeders' Cup favorite and ran miserably, but before that, he ran off an unbeatable streak of victories for a sprinter.  His name is literal...It was when the track announcer could not see the horses until they "came out of the fog" on the track.

  5. the following article was up for an Eclipse Award in jounalism, IMHO it's one of the finest pieces of writing I have seen.

Please take the time to follow this link and read the article, it was published in The Bloodhorse soon after lost In The Fog was humanely put down. Be warned though, you might need a kleenex to go along with the story.

It covers all of LITF's career and just how much joy he brought to Harry Aleo, Greg Gilchrist and his legions of fans! Here is the link: http://opinions.bloodhorse.com/viewstory...
