    Without quite intending to, Martin Luther changed the course of Christianity and Western history. His 1517 complaint against specific abuses in the Roman Catholic church -- a document now known as the 95 Theses -- sparked the explosive Protestant Reformation that swept Europe for the rest of the century.

Basically Martin Luther was a monk who started the Protestant Reformation by listing a list on the catholic church doors called the ' 96 thesis ' It was a list of complaints referred to the catholic church. This spark soon led to  the beginning of other religeons such as calvinism. Eventually all this 'starting of new religions' sparked the spanish inquisition because everyone was rebelling against the catholic church.
