  1. There is no evidence of Samuel Fraunces having had a daughter named "Phoebe". Her name does not appear with Fraunces's 7 children in the records of Christ Church, Philadelphia or Trinity Church, New York. Fraunces does not mention her in his will. New York tax records list several slaves and indentured servants in his household. If a "Phoebe" existed, she may have been a woman enslaved or employed by Fraunces, rather than his daughter.
