Does anyone know who Shane was referring to when he said "'I was very lucky to play under a couple of very good captains in Australia. I played under some average ones, as well. You can make your own mind up which one's which". I didn't know he thought some of the Australian captains he played under were average...who in particular is he referring to and why?

  1. Him and his mate Ian Chappell always thought he deserved the captaincy ahead of Stephen Waugh.

  2. Steve Bucknor.

  3. s.waugh

  4. 1. Steve Waugh

    2. Ricky Ponting..

  5. Last year Warne named the 50 greatest cricketers he'd played with and against. Steve Waugh was only 25th behind Darren Lehmann, Stephen Fleming, David Boon, Merv Hughes, Graham Gooch, Mark Waugh and Mark Taylor.

About Waugh he said: "Mark Taylor handed him a wonderful team."

About Taylor he said: "I played under four Australia captains but “Tubby” was the pick."

About Ponting he said: "the 2005 experience helped to turn him into an excellent captain"

Doesn't take a genius to work out who Warne didn't get along with.

  6. He is always arrogant.

The world knows the quality of those Captains he spoke of.

  7. Everyone is entitled for their opinion, shane Warne always talk his mind and that's okey...  but everybody knows that he is bitter for the position of captaincy he never got hold of so we all know that he is referring to Steve Waugh but he is a professional player and didn't get that bitterness affected his game, instead he become better and better because of this in fact he became the well known spin bolwer of all time in cricket history and more recognisable than Steve Waugh in regard of his personal skills, he is now a legend in fact.

the other one he was referring to is ricky ponting...  in the ashes 2005, there are some decision and mishaps of ricky ponting that shane warne was against with and all shane warne was to win and win only, the ashes was the greatest lost of the new era of the australian cricket and ricky was only new to the job back then but after that series ricky ponting has matured and learned a lot.
